Why have I been turned down for a credit card when my credit rating is so good? I have no negative credit history, a credit rating of 899 out of 1000 which I am told is very good. Yet American Express have turned my credit card application down. They say this is a result of my personal income (which is over the national average) combined with my credit score. It makes no sense. Can anyone enlighten me? I have no negative credit history, a credit rating of 899 out of 1000 which I am told is very good. I have no debt, except my old student loan for which I have never made a late payment. Yet American Express have turned my credit card application down. They say this is a result of my personal income (which is over the national average) combined with my credit score. It makes no sense. Can anyone enlighten me?
A good and efficient way to raise your credit score? I am looking to raise my score, which is now, consequently, not as high as I'd like it to be (its in the low 6's) I have already checked out a site called prosper.com to try and find a personal loan financer, but I figured out the game pretty quick: if you have below a certain credit rating it does not matter how much interest you are willing to pay, no one will touch you. So, I was wondering if there was anything else (besides paying my bills on time, which I have begun to do religiously) that would help to raise my score?

Can I get a good mortgage rate with a credit score of 631? My score took a hit from one account in collections that is now paid off, so I'm sure my score will go back up at least a little bit before long. It was just a misunderstanding and I am otherwise pefect in my payment history with other accounts. I had a score in the low 700's before that. Is 631 good enough to qualify for a good mortgage, or should I just keep renting until my credit recovers?
Credit Rating Scoring? My credit rating is 814. I am one of those people who has never had any problem. I pay my credit cards bill in full (I have never paid one cent in interest or late payments), paid my 30 yr mortgage off in 15 years and am perfect in all payments. (I'm in my 60's) My question is why is my score only 814? What would it take to get it to the top of 850? Thank you. I'm not complaining, just wondering how credit scores are arrived at. Thanks for your answers.
New Credit scoring rating? I read on Yahoo Finance the Credit scoring system is changing. Can anyone please give more detailed explanation?

What all is effected by your credit score? I am trying to persuade my hubby to take back and sell a car he cosigned for his brother who is not making payments and is paying late. I realize this hurts our credit scores. I know it can effect our car insurance rates, credit card rates, could result in us not being able to get loans in the future. What else? Thank you for your help! ps I know never to cosign and I tried to warn my hubby before he did, so spare me the never cosign advice.
How to improve credit rating (FICO or similar scores) if i had defaulted a credit card in the past? I was offered a student card from citibank, around 4 years back. I was careless, the card maxed out. I ran out of money to pay off the accumulated debit and thus, defaulted. It was a small credit limit of 12k rupees ($300 I suppose). I never paid nor applied for any more cards later. I don't want a bad credit-score, and will need one or two credit cards someday: atleast for online transactions. So, what do i do? paying the bank now, will it help?
How can I find a list of good credit cards including their credit score requirements? I want to find a good credit card with a 0% introductory rate, a low interest rate after the introductory period, and great customer support. I don't want to apply to too many banks because that in itself can affect credit scores; I'd like to know beforehand what their credit score requirements are - but that seems to be hard information to find. Thank you for any suggestions!
building credit rating with bank acc? I am 18 & I want to build a credit rating 4 a mortgage. I am a student and am not working. How to build or repair credit score? I'm 19 and sort of have bad credit already b/c when I tried to get an apartment for college I was rejected so instead had to get one in my parents' name. Sometimes I would pay payments early, but other times I would just totally forget about it and not pay and then I be charged interest..this has been going off and on. So, I have a few questions.. -In order to build my credit score, is it possible to just withdraw less than 30% or so from my credit line from the ATM then when it gets near the payment due date I can just pay off that entire withdrawal amount then repeat? -How long does it take to repair bad credit?....like years? Would I have to pay off credit card payments consistently for many years in order to repair my credit rating? -What's the fastest and most efficient way to repair/build credit?...And how long would it take?...Would cutting my credit card up right now and just stop using it until I graduate from college and get a job repair and/or build my credit? THanks!
