What Is A Good Credit Score Knowledge Base
What are the benefits of having a good credit score? I'm a college student who got a credit card a little less than a year ago. I spend a lot (around $700 a month) and always pay back the total in full before the due date. My bank has increased my credit line three times since because of my good credit. So are there any additional advantages to having a good credit score than easily getting approved for credit cards and getting large credit lines? Does it also project to any type of loans (i.e. it is easier to get approved for a car loan with a lower interest rate) or something?
Will my credit score be good enough to get financed for a car? I just turned 18 and have no credit. The bank would not finance me for a car beacuse of it. Since then, I have gotten 2 secured cards. One with a limit of $500 and one with a limit of $300 to start me off. I have had them for 3 months so far and pay them off in full every month. What will my credit score look like in 6 months? Will it be good enough to get financed for a car by then?
How can I find a list of good credit cards including their credit score requirements? I want to find a good credit card with a 0% introductory rate, a low interest rate after the introductory period, and great customer support. I don't want to apply to too many banks because that in itself can affect credit scores; I'd like to know beforehand what their credit score requirements are - but that seems to be hard information to find. Thank you for any suggestions!
Is my credit score good enough to get a personal loan? UK only please? I have just found out that my experian credit score is 744. I am a self employed tenent earning £3500 a month which I bank on my hsbc account. I have had my hsbc account for 10 months and am told that my internal credit score with hsbc is good. Do i have any chance of getting a personal loan off them? Have any of you managed to get a loan with a credit score 0f 744 or less? Dont bother sending me emails offering me loans. Im not stupid and am well aware of the scams going on.
How to build a good credit score? I have no credit what so ever. I've tried to apply for credit cards, but been rejected from all. So how am I supposed to build a good credit score if I can't have a credit card? What can I do, how can I get a credit card? Or anything that will help me build credit?

What is a good credit score to have when applying for a loan? I just finished ordering my TransUnion credit report and score online from transunion.com. It says my current credit score is 757. Is that considered good? The reason I ask is because I was thinking about going to my local bank next week to apply for a $1,500 loan to get some much needed car repairs. I have plenty of avaliable credit on my credit card but would prefer to get a loan so that I might be able to get a lower interest rate. I always try to pay my bills on time and really need this loan. What are my chances of getting approved with a 757 credit score? Should I even bother applying or will I be wasting my time?
Is it bad or good for my credit score to take a personal loan? Is it bad or good for my credit score to take a personal loan? Of course, I'm going to pay in time. And pay it out even earlier than in 1 or 2 years or whatever I'll take it. I have a US credit history for about 2.5 years only - I've just moved to the US.

What is a good credit score and how to improve it? Sorry, multiple part question: What is the highest credit score possible and what is the lowest possible? What can you do to improve it? And the myth that using your ATM Debit card as credit can actually improve your credit score, is it true?
I was thinking of gettin a loan to pay help pay off and improve my credit score, is this a good idea? I read that pay on loan on time and paying them off right away is a good way to improve your creit score. I had 6 credit cards (Clout Visa, Citi Bank Mastercard, Kohl's charge card, Kay Jewelers charge card, Sears charge card, and a QVC charge card.) Now I only have two cards that are open at the present time(QVC and Kohl's). Both of my open cards are almost maxed out, Kohl's has lowered my credit limit due to delinquencies, but QVC is still the same limit. The other ones are closed, I paid off Kay Jewelers and Sears. On or around 9/14/06 my Citi Bank Mastercard will be paid off. The only closed card that will be left would be the Visa. Couple days ago I recieve a letter from TransUnion, basically stating that I could get a free credit report with them and I have 4 negative items in my credit report. I think the negative items are the cards that are closed. I have been focusing on one card at a time, while paying the minimum amout due on the other cards on or before the due date.
What is the TransUnion credit score good for? It is always the highest score of the 3 credit bureaus but nowhone accepts it for credit purposes. No businesses I have called knows who accepts it. I do know T-Mobile uses it though. Any answers?
What are some good ways to raise my credit score? I recently paid off all debts on my credit report, and now I am interested in raising my credit score. I'm not really sure how to do this.... No open lines of credit, no car payment... advise anyone??? P.S. Since I have paid off all derogatory accounts, how long until my credit score goes up from paying these off? or does it?
How good is a 696 credit score??? Im 21 years old. I have one major credit card, one store credit card, and one installment loan on a atv from the bank. My credit score is 696. According to my credit report i have made one late payment in the total history of my credit card and none anywhere else. I've had this card for about 2 years. Is this a good score and how can i improve it?? Thank you all in advance.
Whats the best way to build a good credit score? I want to build my credit but I have none since I just turned 18 a few months ago. I wanted to get a credit card to help build it and to use purely for emergencies but of course none of the companies will approve me, how can I start building my score?
Will a 743 credit score get me a good auto loan? I am going to be a college senior. I currently have a credit score of 743 and need to buy a new car. I was wondering if I will be able to get a loan without a co-signer with this credit score. I make about 1600 a month and go to school full-time.
Credit Score - Good or Bad? if someone had a credit score of 693 would that be good or bad? One of my friends is curious .....neither of us know :)
Is my Credit Score good?? I recently checked my credit score on Experian and it said that it is 722 on a scale of 501-990 and then I estimated my credit score on MyFICO and is says that my score ranges from 705-755. Are these GOOD?? Average? Bad? Are there different ways to score credit?

Credit Score, Good/Bad? Ok I have one credit card with a limit of $500. I've had it since February 2007 and have been paying off bills fully and early every month. My credit score shows 723. Is this good/bad/alright? Also what do you do to raise your score? This is only an EXPERIAN rating from freecreditreports.com
credit score - good versus bad, and how to fix it? my credit score is a ghastly 595 (stupid things i bought and negelected the bills for). as i get older, this just doesn't suffice, especially if i want to move out or by a new car. what's considered a good score, and how can i build up my score aside from paying off what i owe?
Is 761 a good credit score? I received my credit score in the mail. I was wondering if 761 is a good enough number to apply for a 0% credit card. Would I be able to get a balance transfer for 12 - 15 months with 0% with this credit score number? I am not interested in purchasing anything on the card. I just want 0% to pay down my balance.
Is 719 a good credit score? Im 19 with a credit score of 719. Is that a good? i dont know much about cedit line and such With 2 credit cards, no store cards and a motorcycle finance. the cards are almost two years old, but the bike finance is only a 9 months old
Is my credit score good for my age? I am 21 years old, almost 22. My credit score is 690 and I was wondering if this was a good number for me. I have had a small line of credit out since I was 18. ($500) and someone told me that it was good to have that. I have never had a car in my name either. (I borrow my mom's extra truck sometimes). If I close my Kohl's account and my Kroger's charge account, will it make it better?
My brother used my good credit score to refinance our old house? the loans has been in default couple of times Hi, everyone! I know the majority will probably tell me that I'm totally Screwed but perhaps someone can help me out here and give me some option. Anyway, here goes... My brother used my credit to refinance our old house for quick cash $$$. I owe my brother so I decided to let him use my good credit score which was 750 at that time. Now it is 520. I'm not really that concern much about my credit right now since that is not really the main problem but I'm thinking I'm going to notify the credit bureau soon that my credit was used by my brother. Now back to my question... Well, I found out that my brother didn't just refinance the house but actually also transferred the deed to his friend. So basically the deed of the house is not ours anymore but the 2 home loans are still in my name. Yes, I know I'm really ****ed right now... Now I've been told that my brother's friend will transfer the loan to his name but that was like last year?... and yes he's been late w/ the payments.. Thx! So what can i do? His friend is always finding an excuse... like the house will be sold next month, next week, etc. He have the money to pay for it but why would he when get my credit to use? I know the market has been down but he has like 40+ properties... He promised me he will never be late but he was in default for many times already the mortgage company keeps on calling me. Then he pays it off so that it will not foreclose but the damage is done. My credit is the witness. I know he has been waiting for the second year so he won't have to pay for the tax because we refinance the house almost 2 years ago. I just want the 2 loans out of my name. Not to mention I still have the tax to deal with. My brother was promised by his friend that he will take care of the tax but after all the lies... How can I believe that?... Again anyone please help and please no smart answers-keep it to yourself-I already know I'm in deep ****. Thank you! Thank you for taking the time to read my post Thank you all for the posts... Wow, I didn't know there are already many answers to my post. Actually, it is like this. The home was refinance under my name but my brother made the deal with a friend of his. My brother got a quick cash. My people actually do this. Let someone use their credit when buying a house. Anywy, the friend have the deed of the house. Now he actually own the house. We've been renting on the old house for awhile now but we have already move 1 year ago... but the old house is still under my name. The 2 loans are still in my name. I know I should have not let my brother used my credit. it is actually not illegal since he asked if he can use my credit. his friend took the deed of the house. I signed something saying something that they now own the deed of the house. it is one of those creative financing thingy. I'm into flipping houses. I wanted to flip a house but how can I when my credit is very low now... I know this will hunt me for many year but I'm one of those type that won't give up. I know I can fix this mess in time. I just want to remove my name from the loans. Now I'm not sure if it will do me much good to contact the mortgage company and tell them that I really don't own the house anymore??? I can sue his friend for lying but what good would that do? Some post were helpful... Please keep it coming... Thank you!
What would start me on a good credit score? I'm approaching my last semester in University now and will enter the working world hopefully the mid of next year. I'm now starting to think of investing and financing issues. One particular thing I always come across is "good credit score". I have never been in debt. My fees are paid for by my parents who have set up funds since I was a baby. My expenses are financed through my own part-time job. I have a little savings on the sides. I'm not even sure what my credit score is, but will it be right in saying I have none? How do one get "good credit score"?
Is my credit score good? I am a 21 year old recent college grad. I just found out my credit score is 793. Is that good for my age?
Is a credit score of 800 good? I bought a newer used car last week and financed about $5,000 of the cost of $15,000. The salesman said my credit score was over 800. Is that good? What does 800 mean? Oh, just some additional info. The car is a used '06 Grand Prix with 25K miles. The car was only 12,900 one owner. The extra cost was tax, title and 100k extended warranty. I had 12K to put down , but they had a min of 5k to finance. So, I put down 10k, and will apply the additional 2K to the first couple months payments. So, I should have the car paid off in about one year with any luck. I knew I should have had good credit, cause I pay my bills on time, and add a little to my house payment each month. But, I did not understand the 800 score. And how good is "good" As far as having "help"; I guess advice from my grandfather that he shared with me from his father "if you owe someone, you should pay them". Of course that was before the days of Credit Scores. As trying to impress someone I do not know,,, well if I was trying to impress someone I would have bought an '08 Hummer instead of an '06 Pontiac. Thanks for those who participated.
Is 703 a good credit score ? We are buying a new home and they ran our credit with 3 different credit companies. Each company gave us a different score.they were 703,680 and 679. Is this good? Will they take the best one or an average.
What is the best way to get my credit score higher and get my credit back in good standings? Right now I am in the process of paying off my debt. After I am done with that I thought it would be best if I didn't get anymore credit for about 2 years. This way all of my debt has time to be processed as paid off and I was thinking my score would go up a bit when it is fixed? Is this true? And is it a good idea to not get anymore credit for about the next 2 years? Also one more thing, I have heard that getting a divorce can make your credit bad? What does a divorce have to do with your credit. I mean if there is no debt left between the two parties(everything is paid off), then what makes divorce make your credit bad?? Any and all help would be appreciated!
Is 747 a good credit score? I am 21 years old, making payments on a car and have 2 credit cards which I make regular payments on. Is this a good score? What can I do to get it higher?
What are some good websites to inform me on credit scoring and how to improve my score? Im in debt and currently dont work because im a single mom i have to stay at home with my 8 month old. Both of my credit cards increased my APR after I sent them a letter saying I couldnt pay ( I have payment protector). Anyways it has been placed on my credit report along with hospital bills and things I didnt know I owned or tried. I need to be informed so I have better chances at life. I cant get a house a car or a cat lol jk but i really need help
We have a really good credit score and want to buy another house or do an equity line on our current, but..... My husband started a new business (as a new home contractor) a little over a year ago, so it looks like we have not made very much as far as income for this year or last year. My husband does use money from the company to pay our bills, but the money is not considered income. Is there a mortagage company that can look at the fact that we have a really good credit score without considering our income situation?? We have also considered doing a equity loan....is there a place that will loan you 100% of the equity in your home without needing verification of income? or tax records?
Is this a good or bad credit score? I recently looked at my credit report and my FICO was 650...is this considered good or bad? What are the best ways to improve my score by April/May of 2008?
Can I get a good mortgage rate with a credit score of 631? My score took a hit from one account in collections that is now paid off, so I'm sure my score will go back up at least a little bit before long. It was just a misunderstanding and I am otherwise pefect in my payment history with other accounts. I had a score in the low 700's before that. Is 631 good enough to qualify for a good mortgage, or should I just keep renting until my credit recovers?
How many points does a "charge-off" take off a credit score? I am in the middle of selling my home, and am finding that I will be owing about 20,000 in the end. I can either pull out of the sale and stick with my home and hope to sell it for more at a later date, or the bank is offering a "short sale" program (apparantly something new). From what I understand they will "forgive" the deficit that I owe because they figure the alternative is foreclosure. However, they said they will report the situation as a charge off on my credit. I have not been able to find out how bad this will affect my credit. I am desperate to get out of my house but I have a credit score of over 700 and if that falls, I won't even be able to get into my next home, which defeats the whole purpose of selling in the first place. Anyone have experience w/ chargeoffs and how much (as accurate as possible) they will damage my credit?
Low credit score! But I want to buy a house? My credit score is less than 580. I am in the military, and once while deployed I was a fraud victim ... and on top of that, I was real foolish with my credit while in college. Now, I am all grown up with a child, and I'm tired of renting! I need help. I have been turned down before, what should I do? Is there anyway I could get a home loan?
Is this website a fake? "Improve My Credit Score In 24 Hours?!!"? This Website promises to give you information that will raise your credit score in a couple of hours or in 1 day. have any of you all used this? As a Credit Repair Specialist I see many people who don't know they can improve their credit score in 24 hours or less, but they can. Credit Questions What WIll help my FISCO Score? I have 3 credit cards 2 are active and one i have canceled. The canceled one has a reate of 8% ish with about $3,500 on it. One has a 10% rate with like $6000 on it and one has 12% with $4,000 on it. I want to get every thing under control. Do you think if i went to a bank and rolled it all into one loan with one payement and paid off my cards and still kept them open (to help my credit score) and never used them will this help my credit or keep it about the same?
Can anybody suggest a good card with no annual fee that would approve me with a credit score of around 610? I want to rebuild good credit and I think I can do that by using a credit card to pay for gas and groceries and then paying off the balance on a monthly basis. I think this may help me to correct two of the negative things on my credit report. 1) only $300 of available credit - I only have a JC Penney card, I pay off any balance each month, but my report says I have too little available credit. 2) I have been denied for credit cards two times in the past year, so I want to apply for one that will not deny me, so I dont do any further damage to my score. Should I apply for a secured card of like $500 from my bank? Any suggestions?
My credit score is 540 is there still a chance to get a home loan? I filed for bankruptcy a year and a half ago due. I am current on my bills. I make about $65k a year. I filled out an application with Countrywide 2 weeks ago and never heard back. I have left the loan officer several messages. I'm guessing it was denied but i never recieved any type of notification. I only have about a 5% downpayment. Is it still possible to get qualified for a loan with less than perfect credit?
what credit score do i need? with all the foreclosures and ive heard that it may not even be possible to get 100% financing anymore and guidelines are going to be stricter what would the min. credit score needed to secure a home loan. Will you have to have 700+ or can you get away with something lower around 650...? its so confusing since everything in mortgages seems like it changes everyday due to all the foreclosures. for clarification I wasnt asking how to improve my credit i know how to do that. I was just asking with all the mortgage foresclosures if anyone knew if they were gonna put a cap on how low your score can be to be approved.
What do you do when a "preapproved" company keeps checking your credit score? There is a card services company under several names(Salute/UTB, ASPEN/FB&T, ASPIRE/CB&T, and TRIBUTE/FBOFD) that keeps checking my credit. I have not authorized it and between all the companies they have done 6 inquiries in the last year. It is hurting my credit. I have called the company and they say they don't show me in their system and so they can't remove me. What can I do so that they quit wrecking my credit? Please HELP!!
Trying to build good credit history, improve credit score? I'm a foreigner and don't really have credit history in the US. I have a checking/saving account (for a few years now), cell phone. Have not been delinquent with payments. My credit score is low 500/not existant (depending on what company runs my credit report). How do I get it to go higher?
I have poor credit, dont know my score, but need a loan for $8000 - i have a cosigner? I am trying to apply for a loan in the amouint of $8000- for a doublewide. I am married, but i have poor credit, and my husband has none. My grandmother, as a doublewide, financed with National City, and she has a PERFECT credit score! NO DINGS, OR ANYTHING. She said she will be a co-signer. Can i still get declined, even with her as a cosigner?
What impact do public records have on your credit score? Do I have a credit score without any credit? I am trying to understand my credit situation better so I can fix it. I get a lot of conflicting responses and am not sure what to do. I have a huge child support debt from about 9 years ago (I am 30) when I was in a situation in which I was unable to work. It is about $16,000. I have been paying on it for years and finally got the interest dropped last month so that my payments actually affect the balance. I have a judgement to my apartment complex for about $3,000 (which was paid in full.) This was from last year. I have never had a credit card and have no loans or anything. My credit report lists my 3 child support cases as my 3 accounts. When I paid for my score it said I was unable to be scored, though in an answer to another question I asked someone said I do have a credit score but its probably low. Will the public records affect my score and how so. Since I paid the judgement to my apartment complex in full, should that be refected somewhere on my report?
How badly will my back child support effect my credit score, (once I get one) What about other public records? I am 30 and have no credit score. I accrued a huge amount of back child support about ten years ago and circumstances led me unable to work and pay support. Of course, that large amount has hindered everything I do ever since. I am really trying to get my life going in a positive direction. The slightest emergency has me in a lose lose situation every time. Because of this I decided it is time I get a newer reliable car, but am reminded that I have no credit. I have never had a credit card. All that is on the report is my back child support judgements and a judgement to my apartment complex. That judgement was paid in full. The child support is about $16,000. I recently applied for a secured credit score to atleast help build some credit, but wonder how badly the support judgement will hold me back. I pay regularly on the back pay, but it doesn't seem to show that on my report. It is listed as collections or something. Any insight? lol, I couldn't afford a new car if I sold my soul. I know that I need a reliable car, and think I can find something better than I have now but would never be able to pay out right for it. A loan would need to come into play...which is why I need to get a credit score....in addition, I just realize that I have to start somewhere in effort to fix my situation. I don't want to be in debt for my whole life, I am responsible with my money, I just don't have much with these child support payments. They take the max from me, and I have no help from anyone.
Which mortgage company is best for someone with a "550" credit score? I know the score is not good. However over the past year I have paid over 30,000 on past due debts and have very little of them left; just one college loan. My income far outceeds my remaining debt. There is a house that I can get for an unbelievable deal and I don't want to miss out on it. I don't want to waste my time or further hurt my credit by having a lot of brokers checking it.
credit score under 520 need a loan? boyfriends credit score is under 520 said by prosper, and we need the loan for a used car about 1,000 to 4,000 but cant find anyone to loan us the money anyone know ?
