Credit Repair........Can you get paid adverse accounts removed early? I know that you can write a dispute letter to the credit bureaus if they are reporting inaccurate information, but what if the information is correct but the account has already been paid? Is there any way you can get it removed before the date set for removal? Also my medical bills are in clear view to everyone. I thought that they were supposed to be marked "Med1" and only could be viewed by myself? Any suggestions on how to clear up my credit and have these items removed early and get my medical bills to be marked appropriately?
Can you repair your own bad credit? I have recently researched information on repairing bad credit after bankruptcy, etc. It appears that items, whether true or false can legally be disputed from yourself as frequent as every 30 days. And, unless the credit bureau agencies can provide valid proof (from the original creditors) within a 30 day period, they must remove the derogatory credit from your file. Although it can take 2 - 3 times of writing dispute letters to actually get a response, this seems very interesting. It also appears that the FCRA is really in the consumers favor, but not really advertised to us because the 3 major bureaus profit from our credit history. Any experience/advice on someone cleaning up their own bad credit (not through credit repair scams)?
Credit Repair... Debt Validation and Disputing question.? If I want want a debt validation from a collection agency, do I have to write them the letter myself and ask them to remove it from the reporting agencies, or can I mail the reporting agency itself and say that "I dont know so and so collection agency" and have the the agency remove it? If I ask the agency, do they request the debt validation of the collection agency, or do I have to do it? THANKS.
Do anyone know of a reputable Credit Repair Agency? I have several charge offs, and collections items on my credit report. I would like to get these items removed. The biggest challenge is with Experian they do not delete anything. I would like to purchase a home increase my score. I paid all my collection accounts and charge offs everything have zero balances three years ago. I only fell behind because I was taking care of a sick parent. My mistake was I never received or asked for a written letter from the creditor to remove it off my credit report after I paid it. At the time all I was thinking about 3 years ago was paying off my debt. Do credit repair work and is there any repair agency that is highly experienced with Experian. I tried the creditor but they will not work with me. I tried disputing all come back verified. I believe I need a experienced person to help with this. I'm in Southern California
Pay The Collectors Or Letters of Dispute? After much reading, I am looking for the best approach. I have 3 open accounts listed with the 3 agencies. The total amounts are small ($425, $763, $178). Is it best to first send out a registered letter of dispute to each collection agency and see if they respond within 30 days? If not then report it to the credit agencies? Or do I just pay the collection fee's and move on? After trying to pay the full amount owed ($763) and getting $200 in interest thrown in my face, I am hesitant to try and settle with the others. Questions: a.) How to best handle the existing negative tradelines? b.) What steps do you advise to start the credit repair process? c.) Is it possible to remove payroll deducted child support from the credit report itself? I’m not sure if this is standard but child support shows up as credit? d.) Any way to dispute the late charges from the mortgage and 2nd mortgage? Can I request that they prove that I was late and since it was 3+ years ago they may have trouble? The mortgage is 3 years old
How can I get rid of negative entries on my credit report? I read up on it a little, and sent in a few dispute letters, but it came back as verified and only made it worse >_<. Alot of the derogatory items are outdated, and there's a few things that aren't even mine! How is this coming back as verified? If anyone can shed some light, or knows of a reputable credit repair company, it would be greatly appreciated.
Charge off debt bought and being reported twice? Who do i dispute with:OC or CA? I have a charge off that is past the SOL. I need to know if I should just dispute this account with the collection agency or the origional creditor. The CA that has the debt never contacted me ( I called them once I saw the debt on my report inqiring about what the debt was, but never admitted to owing the debt), and they have reported the account opening date almost 4 years past the date of the charge off with the OC. Should I send a validation letter and then dispute it (since I know its reported inaccurately)? In process if credit repair-any advice greatly appreciated. Can the CA report the date opened as late as they did? Should I first send them a letter to validate it before disputing it?
Credti repair questions? I am in the process of repairing my credit. I have found a few errors that was listing on two of them Trans and Experian, I have disputing them and today I received a letter letting me know that They are being deleted. My questions is will the other credit agencies automatically remove the errors or will I have to contact them in order to get it off. I am not sure why they came off so easy but I am happy about it!!
MANY lates for paid auto loan? I have been in credit repair mode now for 6 months and am making some progress. I had a truck loan for about $27K opened in 5/2000. I paid off the truck on 1/2007. The three agencies show the following: Eq: 30 days (22) 60 days (1) Ex: 30 days (22) 60 days (1) Trans: 30 days (13) 60 days (0) I have tried to send a GW letter, disputed through Equifax online twice, all to no avail. Question 1: Is there any other methods to get this removed? Question 2: How much will those negatives impact me in the next 12 months for auto/mortgage loans. Hoping little since the loan was paid in full. Thanks
How to start repairing credit with a judgement? I've been reading a lot of conflicting info on how to fix this. The report in question contains a judgement for a small amount from 2002. This person was sent an extra day or two's worth of unemployment income and later was sent a collection letter. At the time the person wasn't able to pay and just forgot about it. The other issue is a medical bill that went to collections. It appears twice (exact same amt) on the report. At first I thought the best course of action would be to call the collections offices and simply pay the amounts due, but some sources online say this would reset the 7 year clock. Should these debts be disputed even though they are valid (except the double charge)?
HELP-DEBT VALIDATION considered "frivolous" by Applied Card Bank? I recently asked for a debt validation on a charged off account and have previously disputed it with CRA's and still state it's valid. What I wanted to pin point was the date of delinquency and amount said paid on last payment. Wrote a debt validation letter sent certified. Got a response from the company stating that the information I want is "frivolous" according to Federal regulations because I have failed to prove sufficient information. Letter claims I seem to be working with a Credit Repair Agency, which I have not been and claim the money I am giving them could go to settling the debt. HAHAHA. Just trying to validate the supposed amount owed and who owns it, since Ive been getting collection notices from some other company. ANYONE WITH SOLID ADVICE?
Debt Validation? Long story short, I lost everything and moved to another state, including most of my paperwork. I'm getting back on my feet now, and trying to repair my credit. I would like to request validation from my debtors, but haven't been in contact with them for over a year, I had to pull their address from my credit report...can I just randomly send them a request for validation? Or do they have to contact me first? My real concern is that I rec'd a letter from one debtor saying I have 30 days to dispute or it is legally validated. What if my other debtor sent me the same letter? They are saying I owe 5k more than I really owe. Are they just BSing about it being legally valid if I didn't dispute? and I have been reading the FDCPA...I am just having a hard time finding what the debtors rights are. err I meant lenders rights
Medical Collections and Settlement? Hello, My name is Dria and I am in the process of repairing my credit. I have 5 medical collection accounts that read as follows. Central Fincl Control- $798.00 Date Opened: 03/06/2007 Date Reported:09/15/2007 Central Fincl Control- $100.00 Date Opened: 01/17/2007 Dated Reported: 09/15/2007 Central Fincl Control- $289.00 Date Opened:11/10/2006 Date Reported: 09/01/2007 Central Fincl Control-$330.00 Date Opened-11/08/2005 Date Reported-09/01/2007 Central Fincl Control-$ 95.00 Date Opened- 04/21/2005 Date Reported-09/01/2007 OSI Collection Service-$282.00 Date Opened-06-16-2007 Date Reported- 11-10-2007 Now, the question is what is the best way to settle these accounts, I am in the process of disputing again for a second round...These accounts came back verified, so I think it is time to dispute again with the CB, and then send out DV letters. If they can prove the debt I want to settle, what is the best way to settle these medical collections? 60% or %30
In a quandry, what to do? This past week, my husband and I discovered that my husband brother had been working on cleaning up his credit. Here is the catcher, all of the derogatories that were on the brother's credit all of the sudden turned up on my husband's credit along with all of the aliases the brother used and the brother's addresses and the brother's business. I spent several hours going over my husband's credit report and highlighted all the items that belonged to the brother and wrote a letter to Equifax (the only bureau where this is happening) asking that the items be removed immediately. I also included a copy of my husband's birth cert., ssn card, driver's license and a copy of a recent bill with our mailing address. We have this feeling that the brother had disputed and told Equifax that all these items were my husband's just so he could get his score raised quickly. He informed us that he got an email from Equifax saying his credit had been repaired. He is also trying to buy a house. In a nutshell, we suspect fraud because when we try to talk to the brother, he pretty much trys to change the subject while he is stammering and stuttering claiming he is on medication. Should we file a police report or is the letter to Equifax and all of the documentation included enough? I hope to hear from Studly and Echo on this subject. HELP! Also, the brother and my husband's ssn numbers are very close. The last two digits are different. They are both born in December and are exactly one year and 10 days apart. Apparently, when they were young, their mother got their ssn cards at the same time along with another younger brother. Echo, How do I go about ordering the Lexis Nexis? I did a search and went to lexisnexis.com and it appears to be a site to sell products to potential clients for background checks and such. Is this the correct website and if so, I must be overlooking something. Please pardon me, I am quite upset with this situation.
Who will join me in my boycott of Shell? I had a Shell gas card for about 5 years and was never charged an annual fee. Then in June, I received my statement which included a $25 annual fee. The reverse side of the statement had instructions to write a letter if I wanted to close the account and avoid paying the annual fee. I wrote the letter and then received a letter back saying the account was closed as requested. Now they want me to pay them the $25 plus late fees and they reported it on my credit that I have an outstanding balance! I wrote to the disputes department but that didn't help either. I spend way more than the measly $35 they want, and they just lost a loyal customer. Please join me in my boycott until they repair the damage they did to my credit report. Thanks and Happy New Year! Yeah, I am aware that my boycott will not hurt them that much, and I am aware that their credit division is different (I think it is actually Citibank). I am planning to collect data from my past statement to write a letter to the owner of the Shell station at the end of my street to try to apply "upward pressure." I know it won't be too significant, but it is a matter of principal, not money. I have called them and they tell me that I used the card (for the annual fee) before it was closed. They are a joke!
My Mortgage Company is RUINING my life, Advice ??? I refinanced my House in May 07 with world savings. the primary loan is 334k, I have about 165k equity in it Whne I refied my mortgage broker also advised to pay off all remaining debt on my credit record I had been saddled with a late relatives CC debt when they died and being the authorized used the credit carc company (HSBC) passed on the debt to me (The relative's lawyer shouldve payed it) I disputed it with HSBC but they refused to remove it. So World Savings broker told me they would be paying off this old debt and a few other late collections of around 700 dollars. Well in November of this year I had an accident, emergency home repairs and perfect storm of bad stuff happen. I went to world savings for home equity line of credit. They told me Wachovia has bought them, but with my 165k in home equity i would get the line of credit'EASILY' they dragged their heels and finally a month later sent me a letter denying me loan because my credit rating is low. I have pulled my credit i pulled my credit reports and am in shock World Savings said they would pay of old collections There is NO RECORD on any of my credit reports that these collections were EVER payed off. So my credit is still bad because of World Savings failure and now theyre turning me down for home equity line of credit for their own failings! OMG im about to have a stroke! what should I do ? i keep excellent records. im staring at my HUD statement right now. im just shocked by this catch 22 man Im going to go ballistic on the phone tomorrow morning my broker was paid 6900 in his fees alone on my hud is is listing 5405 that was to be paid to the owed creditors (4 total) only 1 of the 4 shows on my credit report as being payed off
