What are some quick ways to raise my credit score? I'm 19 y/o and I have three major credit cards. I have a credit score of 708 and I'm trying to get it higher. I recently applied for a loan but I need a co-signer. However everyone I kow has bad credit. How can I raise my score within the next couple months so I can get a loan without a co-signer? Or at the very least have pretty high credit. I'm aiming for a 750.
Best way to raise credit score is a CC? I checked my credit score because I need a small loan to help pay on the 2 loans I have now (auto and school), because I wasn't working for 2 months. There's a good reason for that, though. On my score page it said I had a bad balance of credit cards and loans out, and I should get a credit card to help even things out, bringing my credit score higher to qualify for a better loan that won't kill me. I know my credit score is a little low because it's new-ish (about a year and a half), but I've got to figure something out quick, or else the car note that I'm late on is going to hurt my credit score even more next tuesday. All that to say, does anyone have a suggestion for a CC for me to get that will help more than harm me?
Best way to raise credit score in 6 months??? Ok, my husband and I was d/c out of bankruptcy in Jan 07, we have only 1 credit card each that we just got and paid our first payment(we paid more than the minimum). We just got our credit scores from Experian and both scores are about 550. We don't want to get too much credit and over extend ourselves. We have a free&clear car, an apt, and I have a couple of student loans in deferment. So, we want a house in Fall of 2008, how do we get our score up in six months??? I'd like to see our score up to 650? Is that too much in a 6 mos period???
Best way to raise my credit score? I had a bad spot where I couldnt work and was int he hospital for about 4 months didnt have health insurance, all my savings were wiped out trying to pay rent etc while not working, my car got repoed and I couldnt pay my credit cards..lost a lot in a short time along with my credit score, 2 years later still trying to pay off stuff , my credit is in the mid 500, and I cannot buy a car house or rent an apt even tho I am working and making payments, I need to raise my score to the national average of about 620 to rent an apt, whats the quickest, smartest way to approach this and are there any agencies out there that would be available to advise me without putting back me in the hole. I liked what rowdy said where/how do I get a read copy of my report, all my cards were cancelled, just got a secured m/c and making payments on time , a friend co-signed a carloan and I have made payments on time for the last 1.5 yrs hoping that should help
How can you raise you credit score even when you pay on time? Ok, past credit messed me up. I have a judgement thats almost paid off. I am trying to raise my credit score.I have 3 new accounts that I've paid on time for over 1 year. I read that one way to raise your score is to " piggy back" on a relatives good credit ( have them add me to one of their good accounts and not use it) Is this safe, is it legal. I would love to hear constructive ways to increase my credit score. Please don't judge me. Almost all of my " bad" credit accounts have been paid off. I put my sons first when the divorce came. They lived in the house that I paid for while I lived in a basement.
What is the fastest way to raise your credit score? My husband and I hit a financial hard spot about a year ago. Since then we have worked hard to catch up on all our bills and pay them on time. We would like to buy a house in about 3 years. (We own a condo at the moment) Would 3 years be long enough to raise our credit scores? Other than paying our bills and paying off some of the balances that we owe is there another way to raise our credit scores? We plan on keeping our credit cards once we get them paid off because we were told that as long as we charge something once a month and then pay that off every month it will help with our credit score. Any other advice?
Quickest way to raise your credit score!? My husband and I worked for the same company about 3 years ago and it unexpectedly closed - and we were both without a job. Due to this, we drained our savings while we tried to find new jobs. I still have not. We have several charge offs on our credit. We have three open accounts now in good standing (have never been late)! Should I pay off all the charge offs? And if I pay the balance will they remove it from our credit report? What is the best way to raise the overall score quickly other than just paying your bills on time. We don't have credit cards any longer - they along with other bills are now charged off on our credit. I need to know since they are around 2-3 years old if I should pay them off and if I pay them off will they remove it from our credit?
What is the quickest way to raise your credit score 100 pts? We are working our way to buying our own home and only have 50 pts to go to get approved, but I would like to raise it a little more than that so we can get a little better rate. Would it be quicker to get a secured credit card that reports to the credit bureaus or is there a better way? I have several judgements (civil small claims) from landlords in the past, and also some collections, mainly from the hospital bills. Is it true that both of these will stay on your report wether you pay them or not? I have heard that sometimes when you pay off everything it actually lowers your score even more... Any advice is appreciated.
A good and efficient way to raise your credit score? I am looking to raise my score, which is now, consequently, not as high as I'd like it to be (its in the low 6's) I have already checked out a site called prosper.com to try and find a personal loan financer, but I figured out the game pretty quick: if you have below a certain credit rating it does not matter how much interest you are willing to pay, no one will touch you. So, I was wondering if there was anything else (besides paying my bills on time, which I have begun to do religiously) that would help to raise my score?
how do i raise my credit score? I have 3 open accounts none are in collections but one of the three has a bad remark (30days)but i have been paying more than what is due on all three . I want to know what is the fastest way to raise my credit score. All the accounts are credit cards. How do i ask the companies to rereport my information to raise the score. HELP
How long does it take to raise my credit score? My husband and I have been married for 13 months, and we want to know the best and quickest way to raise our credit scores. Mine is 695 and his is 595. I have just started establishing mine, and his was messed up while he was deployed. We do not have any credit cards, and we rent our apartment. We have three loans out right now, for a total of about $7,000. We have never been late on a payment. We would like to raise our scores so that we can get a good deal on a house one day. We have a couple of years until we need to get a house, so I am hoping we can raise our scores by then. So the question is how long does it take to raise our scores from poor and fair to good and excellent? Oh just a few more notes. We do not have any children, and the loans are for our car, a computer, and our horse.
Is getting a car loan a good way to raise my credit score? I always pay my bills on time and I have absolutely no debt(never have). I have the money to buy the SUV but should I finance half to raise my credit score? Obviously, I'll be spending a little more for the interest rate. Which would be better, a personal loan or auto loan? Thanks!
how to raise credit score? I'm trying to raise my credit score and my score is a 486. I started paying what I owe and my score doesn't even raise after several months. Are there other ways to improve the credit score because i'm trying to finance a car and been turned down left and right. Thanks
Best way to raise my credit score about 40 points in a very short time? I need about a 640-660 to get some credit that i need to be able to balance transfer my debt to a lower interest card with less monthly payment but i only have a score of 605 Im always on time with payments but the debt isnt going down even though i dont spend any more on the cards Interest is super high and eating my monthly payments so how do i get out of this?? I was told that leaving accounts opn with 0 balance is better due to the fact it shows you have high credit you could spend but you havent spent it, i got advised to rais my credit limits if the companies would give me more credit and then just not spend it as the more credit yopu have unused the better your score, plus if i had the money to pay of the cards i would have done it already, im in this position coz i dont have enough money to pay them off only the minimums of which the interest eats it, hence why i need to balance transfer it all to lower interest card. oh and as for the comment about getting a second job, i run my own business and i have applied for every job i find to supliment my income until my business picks up but nothing works out, i never get replies or interviews and there jsut isnt many jobs going at the moment, so im kinda screwed, gonan be in big trouble soon if i dont lower my monthly payments and interest, can barely afford to feed myself as im making sure the debt payments come first soa s to never be late or hurt my credit more. As to the answer about asking for lower interest or getting a lower interest card well thats what im trying to do unfortunately i cant wait 3 months, im paying over $120 a month and i am cutting food bills and other important needs to be able to pay this and i cant go on like this forever, i have tried a card transfer and my credit is just short of being eligable to do that, and since the interest on my cars practically takes all the minimum i pay each month it never seems to make the balance go down hardly any, i cant afford to pay more than absolute minimums or i wouldnt be able to afford to eat. Im not really worried about my score jsut worried that since i cannot afford to barely buy food as well as paying my credit each month, im worried that a day will come when i am short and my credit gets bad because of a late payment I have bent over backwards to make sure i never pay late and always pay the minimums plus if i had more i woudl but i never do have enough to pay more I have tried applying for different loans and credit cards to transfer or pay off the current debt and have a lower interst but it always ends with me being denied and then thats one more thing on my credit report lowering my score making it even wors so i have no chance of getting credit to pay this stuff off, i have 3 cards with capital one so i suppose i could try contacting them and seeing if they can do anything to help and the same with my 4th card. Just to add, i HAVE tried all forms of consilidation, balance transfers and the like, consolidation companies say they would double my monthly payment which is out of the question as i am trying to reduce it, and my credit score is too low, just, to get any kind of credit card to which i could transfer all my balances from all my cards. No offence but to the peole trying to get me to click affiliate links to companies that probably earn them money if i use their service, forget it, if iw anted to use a compny i would find their site myself and be sure it was legit
Which is a better way to raise your credit score...? I have enough money to pay off what I put on my credit card just a few days ago, but will I get a higher score if I pay it off slowly over a few months? Which way will give a higher score? Paying it off right now, or letting it go for a while. gomanyes..., don't overstate the obviouse...if I knew about these things why would i be asking about them...also I have never had the money to pay anything off fully, niether have my parents, this is a first for all of us which is why I am asking...
What is the best way to raise my credit score? I have good credit but am trying to improve my overall score.... I have a major credit card and a major store card and keep both balances low/pay them off, house loan, car loan and all accounts paid on time. Do I need to obtain more credit to improve the score or should I make a major purchase such as a new car?
Which will be the better way to raise my credit score? I have one positive thing and one negative thing on my credit. The positive thing is a car loan that is in good standing. The negative is a hospital bill for $400.00 that is still owed and is closed. My score is 598 and I have never had a credit card or anything else on my credit those are the only two things. Would it help my score more to pay off the medical bill or get a credit card and just put gas and pay it off at the end of each month?
How to raise your credit score? Other than maintaining your credit cards.. and paying everything on time..is there any OTHER way to raise a poor credit score?
will a paid balance raise my credit score easier than zero balance? i have a low credit score due to past deliquencies. i still have over 7 credit accounts according to FICO. i want to know what is the best way to raise my credit. i know that the credit is based on account history and the ratio that i'm borrowing against credit limit, so does that mean it's better to keep these accounts? i've also heard that having too many credit cards is bad, but is it bad because i might be tempted to use them or is it bad for credit score as well. i'm most concerned about credit score.. i no longer have financial issues. also, is it better to use the cards a little bit then pay it off every month so at least i'm "making payments on time", or is it better to keep the balances at zero? if it is better to pay something off every month, does it matter how much i'm paying off? so if i use the card a lot then pay off everything every month, is that good for my credit score? thanks, thanks for the answers. question, is it better to close the accounts i have open? or is it better to keep all of them to raise my average history length and the general debt vs. limit ratio lower?
What is a good way to raise your credit score? Please don't tell me to pay my bills, because I do pay my bills. thanks mike, Gottaknow, thats helpful. I only have one visa card, but I have a dell account which I plan to pay off in the next 3 months and then close. I have been told that will help it. I have 1 car loan out which I pay over the amount due and before its due date.
