Fico Credit Score Knowledge Base
Where to get the most accurate FICO/credit score? Ok I know that there are a ton of different FICO and credit scores out there. Example: I have a service called Identity guard and I get an update credit score every three months from all three credit bureus, I also get a FICO score from Transunion each month from a credit card account I have (its a free service) now the FICO score is about 80 points off from the scores I get from Identity guard why is that? If I want to see my score excatly as a banker etc. would see it if I applied for a loan whats the best route? I plan on appying for a car loan score and I want to know excatly what the bank would see for a credit/FICO score. And also how many different scores are out there? Does each bureau just have one score, or how does that work?
FICO & Credit score... Same thing? Isn't your credit score the same as a FICO score or are they two different scores, also plus score and regular credit scores. What's the difference there? I've tried to look it up and get conflicting info. So if I have all three scores in front of me and EXPERIAN is smack dab in the mid X00 and the other two are the exact same number just under that XOO mark. Which one do I go buy when there is a question that had only room for one number and it says What is your FICO score? I had a investing consultant pull them for me and get me a set of copies but I couldn’t contact him last night when I sat down to read it. I was just wondering because we need to buy a new house and also have to start up his business all over again in this new state, plus I am going to be starting my own business that is completely different. My husband and I need to do the mortgage in his name and the rest in mine in order not to over extend our credit because I have certain things they won’t allow us to figure in as income an it’s a big chunk of change. So I was looking at stated income loans, but now that I have looked at tons of loan sites I see that it will be no problems at all, he can use part of my income as a stated income and I can use part of the funds I get that they wouldn’t include in a regular loan for my stated income. All because my extra finds are a personal agreement to pay off a debt to avoid winding up in jail for embezzlement. THANKS TO ALL !
FICO Credit score question? Hi, I checked my FICO credit score and it says its 758. The FICO score chart is 300 the lowest and 850 the highest. What does my 758 score mean? How good is it? In November of 2006 my score was 790 so why did it go down to 758? What could I have done wrong? I was never late on a payment or anything like that. Thank you for your time and any help.
Is the Washington Mutual free FICO credit score a good program? I received a credit card offer from Washington Mutual that offered free FICO scores? Whats the catch? I thought you had to pay for your credit scores or were allowed only one check per year. Can anyone enlighten me on whether they charge you for this service? If its free, thats a good deal.
Fico score, credit score question.? I have a credit card with a $ 3,750 credit limit. If I ask it to be raised to $ 5,000, will this decrease my credit score/FICO Score ? I heard that it might, because I am "applying for credit", and that will lower my credit score. RIght now my FICO score is 750.
Is there a huge difference between a FICO credit score and the score given by the 3 credit bureaus? I've already gotten my free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com but now I'm looking to monitor my credit score periodically from all three bureaus. I know that FICO is probably the biggest credit score service is their number that much different than what I'd get from the credit score source that Equifax, Experian and TransUnion use? I just don't want to pay so much more for nothing. If FICO says my Experian credit score is 700 and I go to Experian.com and their service says my score is 692, I don't see the difference. Thanks.
FICO Credit Score Scale? Does anyone know where to get the scale for FICO credit score? like: 300-400=bad 401-600=good etc. Thanks a bunch!!
Please help me understand my FICO score/credit report!? Background info: I'm 23, financially independent- renting a house, currently paying student loans (and i will attend medical school next fall), and have a car that i am paying off. Today I obtained my free credit reports and FICO score- i'm at 744 ("Very Good"). I found, from my reports, that I had a number of credit cards- most never used- mostly from department stores. I called and canceled them immediately. Now the only thing current on my credit report should be the things mentioned above (and 2 other cards). Could it HURT my credit to have taken those established (some of them 3+ years old) off my report, even if they were never used? There is nothing "negative" reported on my reports- never been late on a payment etc. Thanks for your help!! Is the 'credit limit to credit balance' a summation of ALL your cards? If so, i'm worried that I DID do a bad thing. I hope this won't bring me below 720 (usually the limit for decent interest rates on loans etc.)- any thoughts?
creditxpert credit score vs fico score? what is the difference between these scores when i check my fico.com they say my fico score based on my equifax credit report is 613. Due to the price of my fico being higher than i can afford i decided to shop around and found my credit keeper.com they pull all three of my reports but they use creditxpert not fico. creditxpert says my scores are experian 667 equifax 615 and transunion 665. Now are those scores very close to my fico scores or are they way different? If they are different does anyone on average (rule of thumb) know if my fico's are higher or lower then creditxpert scores. Am i wasting time and money on creditxpert scores?
FICO, Credit Score, and Credit Cards.? I'm currently looking at having my limit on my credit card increased, but before I do, I really need to know how having more available credit/increased credit limit will affect me mainly because I will be applying for a mortgage later this year.
Will I have a problem getting a credit card with this Fico Score? OK Here's the situation...... I have a FICO score of 663 according to the purchase of my Equifax credit report on myfico.com....I own a "annual payment visa card with a limit of $750 (increased from original of $250) over the last year and a half and WalMart Credit card with a limit of about the same (increased as well)..... I want to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I have $3,200 in cash and the ring I want is $4700, so I need to finance the last $1,500. My best financial choice would be to get a credit card with a 12 month 0% APR, so I can pay the $1,500 off no problem in 12 months. BUT, I don't want to apply for some of these cards, (Most are platinum) if it will hurt my credit score if I'm rejected. Will I be accepted? My balance on the other two cards is like $100 total, I've paid them off consistently. (never late) but I am improving on past credit problems from like 7 years ago. . Will I get rejected for these 0% Introductory APR cards?
What are some ways I can Improve my FICO credit score? My score is about average, its not bad at all and it not extremely good though. I'm planning on buying my first home in about a year, meanwhile among other finacial preperations I would like to improve my score. How can I do this, more importantly how can I do this in a non-risky way? I need some things to gain points, not get me out of bad credit, I have good credit, I want even better credit though. I've checked my credit report and I have no bad marks on it. I just need advice on how to make it higher. And no, winning the lottery doesn't help your credit score, I'm not asking about money.
I have 6 credit cards with no debt. Will my FICO score go up or down if I close any accounts? My credit score is currently 745. I have 6 credit cards: Macy's Visa Sam's Club Discover American Express Paypal MasterCard B of A Visa WaMu Visa I have absolutely NO debt, and always pay my full balance on time. My question is: do I have too many open lines of credit? I know 745 is a pretty good FICO score, but I am curious why it's not even higher. I know that credit scores can go down if you close a credit account, but in the long run would it go back up and possibly be higher if I had less open lines of credit? If you think I SHOULD close a credit line, which one (or two) do you recommend I close and why? Thank you very much for your help! Thanks for the advice so far. I'm fairly young, and do not yet have car loans, or mortgages, etc. Just the credit cards which I pay on time in full. keep those answers coming!!!
Paid off one credit card. FICO Score was 740, went to 699! Please advise to get back UP!!? FICO SCORE 740: 1. First cc at 50% (this cc has highest credit limit, only 4,500.) 2.. Second cc at max.. 3. Third cc at max.. FICO SCORE 699 (the next month): 1. Took out fourth cc to balance transfer one high interest cc above to zero interest cc to pay off cc sooner, all of payment appiled to principal. Thought this was a smart thing to do. 2. So, second cc above now has a zero balance. FICO SCORE drove the next month drastically! HOW DO I RESOLVE THIS QUICKLY? ALL IN GOOD STANDING. PAY DOUBLE THE MIN.. PAY, AND ALWAYS EARLY. Thank you ahead for someone's knowledge & expertis!! Credit card that now has zero balance is oldest credit card of seven years. I did not close account. Income to debt ratio is good. So, this is why I was surprised my score dropped so much when the fourth card was taken out to zero% card to pay off oldest card. This first card was taken out at high interest seven years ago when credit wasn't so good, and they refused to lower interest. Don't know why. But have not closed it though, because it is the oldest one. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND GREAT ADVICE!!
How can I find out my credit score I would get if applying for a mortgage vs. my FICO? I know that the calculations used by lenders for a mortgage differ from Fair Isaac (FICO). I have TrueCredit (by TransUnion) triple credit monitoring which gives me unlimited access to all three of my credit reports (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian) AND my FICO scores. I am preparing myself for a refinance and I want to see how I am scoring with the mortgage calculation, since I have improved my scores significantly over the past year when I got my sub-prime mortgage. My one year prepay penalty is coming up in late December and I want to be fully prepared before I start shopping. Also, what ABSOLUTE MINIMUM credit scores do I need, (FICO) and (Mortgage Lender), to be considered for a Prime rate (<7.5%). Thanks for your help, the people that contribute are greatly appreciated and I'm honored for your time and efforts! Keep up the good work!!! So I just figured out recently that TransUnion's TrueCredit scoring use FACO and not a true FICO. I went to each bureau seperately and got my FICO and heres what I found, its astounding: TU EXP EQ FACO: 637* 596 607 FICO: 637* 660 678 *TransUnion only offers this scoring I was going off this FACO calculation for over a year! Come to find out I have pretty good credit, and the things I have done to improve it had paid off substantially more than I thought in the past! My Mortgage score was MUCH higher than my FICO when I was applying for my first mortgage. So I now feel that my MORTGAGE SCORE should be in the 700s? Does anyone agree with that? That a middle score of 660 FICO would be at least 700 in Mortgage credit scoring?
Can opening a store credit card lower my FICO score? I have a pretty high FICO score (750) and am seeking to increase it. I was about to open a Banana Republic card to save about $100 today. I already have 4 credit cards with a home mortgage that I'm paying each month. I have no other loans or lines of credit open. I've heard from guys like Clark Howard that opening instant credit cards at stores hurts your credit. My question is would instantly opening this card drop my credit score by 10 or 20 points? I'm trying to achieve a near perfect score so I'm concerned that doing things like this will hurt my credit.
Why is my credit score (FICO) so low all of a sudden? It has dropped nearly 80 points in the last two months ~Ive never been late on a payment (always pay extra) ~I have had only three inquries ~my credit limit on a CC was increased by $500 and I've used that ~I pulled my credit report from all three agencies and do not see any activity that would be considered unusual or out of the ordinary I did claim Chap 7 many many many years ago and my credit score has improved significantly within the last two years - so I don't think that is affecting the score. Any suggestions?
Credit Cards Affecting FICO Score? Hello everyone. I am about to purchase my first house and am trying to optimize my FICO score. Currently I have 3 credit cards. One is a Discover Card (I have had since 1999), another is a USAA card (that I've had since 2001) and the 3rd is an MBNA card. The first two I don't ever use anymore and the MBNA card I use for ALL purchases. I have heard some people say that canceling un-used cards can have a positive affect on your FICO score. Another school of thought will say that keeping credit card accounts with a long history, whether you use them or not, will have a greater effect. Just as part of my preface, I ALWAYS pay my FULL balance at the end of each month. My questions: I am wondering if getting rid of my old cards is better than keeping them when it comes to my overall FICO score? If keeping them is better, is it even better to use each one routinely? Also I've heard it can help to get an AMEX card, due to their high qualifying standards and requirements?
How do I raise my Fico Score My credit scores are 629 and the other two are 595 who do I raise them? I have one car loan that has only been late more than thirty days about 5 times in two years and the only other item I have on my credit is a Car loan that I had and totaled the car and the company took it to collections Help I desperately want to have good credit and maintain it. That car that I totaled did have full covrage insurance but it didnt met the gap and thats what I was left with the difference Also that account was paid in settlement
