does paying off autoloan early.. increase credit score..? Hi, I bought a new car n after some downpayment, I had to take a loan of $17000 in Jan'07 1st week. Initially I took the loan for 48 months, and if I pay it off in 6-9 months, what effect it would have on my credit score. The bank doesnt have prepayment penalty. So now in order to have a best increase in credit score, which of the following 4 options should I follow 1.) Payoff entire loan in 3-4 months, if possible 2.) Wait for 8-9 mnths, accumulate the loan amount in other bank account and they pay off the loan instantly 3.) for next 8-9 increase the monthly payments such that the loan gets over in 8-9 mnths 4.) pay increased monthly payments for next 3-4 months. At end of 4 mnths, pay some xtra money and get it refinanced and then payoff in next 6 months after that for saving some money and good credit I dont have any other loan. I have 2 bank accounts and 2 credit cards which I always pay on time, never missed any payment and usage is well below 50% of credit limit.
Credit score increase? I want to increase my credit score, but am confused as to how it works. I have 2 judgments against me when I used to live in another state. I have collections, mostly medical. I have 2 credit cards that have been charged off. I have no open lines of credit except student loans. Should I pay the charged off amounts, or forget about them and get 2 secured credit cards to increase my score. What should be my 1st step?
Will my credit score increase if I simply increase my credit limit without adding any more debt? I've read in several places that one of the major credit score factors is the debt usage ratio. If I increase my credit limit without charging anymore to the card then the ratio will decrease. However, increasing the credit limit just feels like the wrong thing to do. Anyone have any experience/advice here? Thanks so much in advance. Thanks for your help everyone. I have two existing cards that i've had for three-four years that I will probably request credit increases on. Do you think it would be a problem if I requested increases at the same time on both cards?
How much does your credit score increase when you pay off an auto loan? The last time I viewed my credit report, it did not have my auto loan as paid off. I had paid it off about a week before my credit report was pulled. Does anyone know how much that will increase my credit score? My FICO score was 545 and I am wondering if it will increase significant enough to be considered for a home loan. I know the score is pretty low, but you never know with the housing market today.
I paid some charged off debt as requested by a mortgage lender, will this increase ny credit score? In applying for a mortgage the lender requested that I pay some specific debt. One an installment loan and a few other small ones. I have done that, will my credit score increase? I also have some charged off credit card debt listed but it is also listed with a collection agency. In reviewing my application, are they NOT looking at that and should I contact the ORIGINAL creditor that charged off and negociate the ORIGINAL amount which is considerably lower because interest has accrued with the collection agency. Doing so would that increase my credit score and can I have the debt collection reporting removed if I do contact the original creditor?
will this increase my credit score.?? I have a bad credit ,so what i did was i applied for 2 unsecured cards for bad credit ppl and luckily they approved me for credit 300$ each..what i'm planning is to Pay them full every month for the next 6 months. will it increase my score after 6 months, if so how many pts??.. and btw i'm approaching my 7 yrs credit history record and hopefully all my bad credit bfore 6 yrs may be eliminated.. any tips on this..please advise??
How much should my Credit Score increase after two public record judgements are deleted? There are two public record judgements on my fico score provided by Equifax which don't belong to me. I currently have an investigation going with them. These two judgements are ONLY on my Equifax CR, NOT Experian or TransUnion. My Experian credit score is 632 and my Transunion is 637. My Equifax which contain the two inaccurate judgements is 542. I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone and how much did their score increase after the items were removed. I have no debt, only a student loan payment of $50 a month, balance is $3300, and a macys revolving credit card of $100 limit with zero balance. I recently paid off all my debts and my score increased from 513 to 632, (Experian) in 3 weeks after paying off a closed Chase credit card acct and 1 collection acct for a cell phone bill. If my credit score went up so much by just paying off the little debt I had of about $500 then I'm curious to see how much more would it increase with two false judgements deleted? Can any one help?

I'm finally making decent money and I've began paying back my loan, my question is will my credit score begin to increase because i'm paying this off now on a monthly basis or will it only increase once the loan is fully paid off which will be in like the next 5 years.

does purchasing, and then paying off debt increase credit score? I am wondering if it is smart to do this - instead of using cash, only use credit card to make purchases, and then at the end of the month pay the bill in its entirety. Under the credit limit, of course. I just got a card. And yes I read all the fine print, highlighter in hand.
How can I increase my credit score? I am twenty-two years old and my FICO score from Experian was a 738 four or five months ago. I have: 1. a close to $75,000 mortgage with an initial balance of $83,000 2. four credit cards with a total limit of close to $55,000 (only one of which has a balance [$8,000 on it but at 0% that I will pay off before any interest accrues]) 3. about $21,000 in student loans that are not yet in repayment (I am finishing college soon) 4. no auto loan payments (paid cash for my wife's car and mine) I am trying to increase my credit score so I can get the very BEST rate on a HELOC (home equity line of credit) so I can begin my real estate career! Hopefully, I can find something lower than prime - 1.00% because I have already been offered that.

debt to credit ratio/ increase credit score? im trying to figure this whole thing out. so say i have a credit limit on my first card, which is 500. on this months statement i had a balance of 326. so i paid 176 this month. which brings it down to 150. ive read that i should keep it at 30% ratio. im now thinking twice that the debt to credit ratio is how much i spend that month? so this means that this coming month i should spend anything on the card because it will go over 30%. i also have a amex with a 2000 limit. i spent 1019 and paid off 519 this month, bringing it down to 500 balance. did i do that wrong too? should i have just paid off the whole thing? i also have a 0% apr on the amex card. the question is, i guess, is if i paid my balance correctly? or if my balance right now is what i should have spent this coming month. if it is, should i not use my credit card this month?
I need to increase my credit score by 25 points in order to refinance.? Trying to find additional ways to increase my credit score? I'm trying to increase my fico score so that I could lease a car in three months. I've been working on repairing my credit. I purchased another car with my husband over a year ago which has helped boost up my fico from 513-605 in 1 year! I've heard that piggybacking on someone else's credit card works very well. My mom has a card with a $500 limit with a $118 balance but has only been opened for 9 months. A mortgage broker told me that the card had to be opened for 2 yrs in order for the piggyback to affect my score for the better. But I'm not so sure about that. My fico went up almost 100 pts in a year when I purchased the truck. I've also read about the future changes of piggyback and am aware that this will no longer be doable as of September. What I'm most concerned with for now is, will having myself added to a 9 month old account with good payment history work? Any suggestions or input is greatly appreciated.
will getting a credit card increase my credit score more then paying my student loans and bills? People always tell me to get a credit card so that I can increase my credit score for when I want to buy a house. I have quite a few bills under my name ( cell phone, electricity, cable. etc.) and have student loans that I am paying off. I pay everything on time and never ever miss a payment. Everytime I have to apply for a loan, to pay for health care for example, I always get approved. I took that to mean I have pretty good credit already. Is this helping my credit go up as well, or is it just establishing good credit? Is there any truth to what they tell me about getting a credit card to raise my score? Thanks! Let me know if I am being ignorant.
Will cancelling unused credit cards increase my credit score? I have several credit cards that I have not used in months. There is a 0 balance on the accounts. If I cancel them.. will this increase my credit score or make it worse? I also have a card that was recently issued to me with a credit limit significantly lower than what I expected. I have not used the card. Should I cancel it? Will this help or hurt me? Any advise on how to consolidate debt and increase my credit rating would be greatly appreciated.

Credit score of 610, can I increase it to 675 in 6months, if not how long will it take? I want to buy my first home in about 6months time. Is it possible to increse my score from 610 to 675 in 6months? I only have two credit cards and using only 20% of my available credit. I don't have any loans. I had a collection 1year 2months ago that has been paid off for college parking tickets. I also had an old credit card charged off as bad debt 2 and a half years ago. I had a car loan three years ago but paid it off to quick, it was paid in 1.5 years. All I have now is my two credit cards to increase my score? Should I also pay my charge off, I was told this will do nothing to my score! Thanks Should I pay the charge off since this will do nothing to improve my credit score and secondly if you don't think my score will improve to 675 in 6 months what realistic score do you think I can acheive in this time? thanks ..........

How much will my credit score increase when my paid auto repo drops off my credit report in February? I also have an unpaid $80.00 hospital bill in collections that is scheduled to come off in June. I need to buy a new car as soon as possible because I commute about 75 miles round trip every day, and my piece of junk used car that I financed in May 05 ( and am still paying on at a horrible rate through a bad loan company) is ready to break down at any minute. I am hoping to be able to get financing from a regular lender this time, and I am wondering if I would need to wait until both of these items fall off my report, or just the paid repo. Right now my credit score is about 632 . I have my current auto loan, several credit cards, and several student loans on my report which are all in good standing. I have no late payments and no other derogatory items. I am hoping to get a loan for around $17-18000 with about $2500 down.
How much does your credit score increase with each final payment of a debt? I recently purchased 9 books about how to raise your credit score and have recently paid off some student loans and credit cards...I have one student loan remaining and one small credit card balance...The ones I paid off were outstanding as far as being overdue...I want to know about how much my credit score adjusts with the payment of these debts after about 3 months once my credit reports reflect this...
How long does it take for my credit score to increase after paying a negative account? I recently paid off an auto loan. It had quite a few times that it was 30 days or more late. I was not responsible for paying the loan as I gave the car to a friend and they were not paying on time. The car was still in my name and my husbands name. My question is now that it is paid off, how long will it be before I see an increase in my credit score. This was the only account that I had that has a negative paying history. It says closed and balance 0 on my credit report now. Also what is the average time it takes for a persons score to increase if they are paying all their bills on time and paying down installment loans and credit cards. How much should it increase in say 7 months. We are trying to get ready to buy a house and hoping to get everything in order in the next few months. We filed bankruptcy (ch 7) 4 years ago.
How long before i see an increase in credit score??? I have posted a couple of questions, one of which I had stated that I paid off all of my collection accounts. According to some of the answers it seems as if my credit score will never raise, rather it will go down since i paid off my debts! I don't understand because I've read several times how when people file bankruptcy their score will raise after a couple of years. Also I paid off some delinquent accounts back in the summer, and my credit score DID raise--by like 50 points. But yet i'm being told by people on here that my credit score won't raise, even though my accounts are all paid and i only have my car loan, credit card, and student loan (always current never late on any of them--all over 3 years old). I don't understand! When will i see something positive on my credit report??!??? :(
I need to increase my credit score from 607 to 650, how can I do this and how long should it take? I am buying a new home and if I get my credit score close to 650, I will get a much better loan. I don't close till January so I have some time. I bought a car in December of 2006 and I was hoping my payment history on that will help me out also, but I don't know how long that will take to show up on my report. I know paying off my credit cards will help and I am very close on getting that debt way down but I need some other suggestions on what I can do.
How can I increase my credit score? I just got my credit report and score. To say that it's not good would be a major understatement. Many of the accounts are old. If I pay them off will that help? My big accounts like my car and student loans are up to date and in good standing. I have a judgement against me which I have been making payments on and will be done paying this month. I know this will stay on my credit for 10 years even after I've paid it, but is there a way I can start building my score as I pay these debts? All the old accounts are either in collections or have been charged off. I don't have any open accounts.
How can I increase my credit score? I just paid off a credit card debt and I was wondering if it is better for my credit score to keep the card open and have a $0 balance on it, or to close it? Thanks in advance for any help.
How do I increase my credit score? I currently run at a 673, which is considered fair. I would love to get it up to good and excellent. I have no outstanding balances and no late payments. My credit is new though, which could be a factor in my fair score. What are some things that I can do to get it better?
Increasing credit score- How do I go about it? I would like to increase my credit score to buy a house. My credit history is as follows.... My current score is 574. Filed bk in 2002. Since then I have had 3 auto loans, which have been paid on time for the most part. I did have a credit card but it went over the limit. I settled for less than the actual amount due to get rid of it. I also have several medical bills in collections. I intend to pay them all off within the next few months. I know that the necessarily won't remove the account from my credit report but what wording should I ask that they add to the account. Is it best to pay the original creditor and act as if I did not know it went to collections? Also, how do I go about getting information added to a credit report? My bank reports to TransUnion, how do I get the information added to Experian and Equifax. I want possible lenders to get a complete picture. Hope I provided enough information. Thanks in advance for all and any help.
How can I increase my credit score? I consolidated default student loans into one payment. My credit report is showing the consolidated loan plus the original loans. Now it appears that I have double the amount of debt. I can't get a loan because creditors are saying that my debt to income ratio is too high.
