Credit score: Your Fico and Beacon are so important so which one of these will raise my score? I currently have eight credit cards but only use four of them. Right now only three have balances. I watch my credit score and in the past three months it has dropped from 735, 724, 718. The only thing I did different was about four months ago I got three new cards and this month I have a much higher balance than I normally do. Now I will pay down the balance and dont plan to get any more credit cards. Here's the question: Which will raise my credit score...to leave all eight accounts open and only use four of the cards or to close four accounts and leave four open?
A good and efficient way to raise your credit score? I am looking to raise my score, which is now, consequently, not as high as I'd like it to be (its in the low 6's) I have already checked out a site called prosper.com to try and find a personal loan financer, but I figured out the game pretty quick: if you have below a certain credit rating it does not matter how much interest you are willing to pay, no one will touch you. So, I was wondering if there was anything else (besides paying my bills on time, which I have begun to do religiously) that would help to raise my score?
How to raise your credit score? Other than maintaining your credit cards.. and paying everything on time..is there any OTHER way to raise a poor credit score?
How to raise your credit score? How long does it take to raise your credit score and what should I do to raise it. My Transunion is 484. My Experian is 523. My Equifax is 423...HELP!!!! Quickest way to raise your credit score!? My husband and I worked for the same company about 3 years ago and it unexpectedly closed - and we were both without a job. Due to this, we drained our savings while we tried to find new jobs. I still have not. We have several charge offs on our credit. We have three open accounts now in good standing (have never been late)! Should I pay off all the charge offs? And if I pay the balance will they remove it from our credit report? What is the best way to raise the overall score quickly other than just paying your bills on time. We don't have credit cards any longer - they along with other bills are now charged off on our credit. I need to know since they are around 2-3 years old if I should pay them off and if I pay them off will they remove it from our credit?
What is the quickest way to raise your credit score 100 pts? We are working our way to buying our own home and only have 50 pts to go to get approved, but I would like to raise it a little more than that so we can get a little better rate. Would it be quicker to get a secured credit card that reports to the credit bureaus or is there a better way? I have several judgements (civil small claims) from landlords in the past, and also some collections, mainly from the hospital bills. Is it true that both of these will stay on your report wether you pay them or not? I have heard that sometimes when you pay off everything it actually lowers your score even more... Any advice is appreciated.
What is the fastest way to raise your credit score? My husband and I hit a financial hard spot about a year ago. Since then we have worked hard to catch up on all our bills and pay them on time. We would like to buy a house in about 3 years. (We own a condo at the moment) Would 3 years be long enough to raise our credit scores? Other than paying our bills and paying off some of the balances that we owe is there another way to raise our credit scores? We plan on keeping our credit cards once we get them paid off because we were told that as long as we charge something once a month and then pay that off every month it will help with our credit score. Any other advice?

To raise credit score should i pay off credit card immediately or stretch out payments over a few months? I don't have debt by any means, first and foremost. I am just starting to live on my own and build my credit and stuff. I got a credit card to help me do that and right now my balance is around $600. I can easily pay this off in one month and not think about it again but i heard that won't raise your credit score any. Someone told me that it is good to leave some balance on your credit card. So, I was wondering should I stretch out the payments over a few months? I would like educational answers only please. I want to do whatever is best for my credit score.

Advanced Strategies to Raise Credit Score? I'm working real hard to raise my credit score. It hasn't been good for a long time. As a result, I am paying very high rates for a car loan. Here is what I've done and am doing, however I am looking for more strategies if there are any. It may just be sit and wait: 1. Am paying off all negative entires. (They're not that bad, less than 1,500 in total). 2. Have paid car note for one year so far, ZERO late. 3. Have opened credit account at Electronics Store (600.00) limit, paid about 3/4 of a year, ZERO late. 4. Opened TWO secured credit cards. 700 Limit and 300 limit. ZERO late, however balance is a bit higher than 30% of limit. 5. Opened UNSECURED credit card. Two month history ZERO late. 6. Have not added additional debt. What else can I do to raise my score? Any thoughts? Thank You.
Will Car Payments Raise Credit Score??? I just purchased a car about 3 months ago (this month will be the 3rd payment), and got financing for it even though I have hardly any credit history/BAD credit history(only 2 bad accounts that total $900, but never had any other kind of credit or anything to make payments on). My first couple payments have been on time, and there should be no problem in paying every payment on time. The total financing for the car was $17,755 for 62 months. I am on my 3rd payment this month. I understand that this is a pretty big investment and will help build my credit, but I just wanted to know how long will it take to begin raising my credit score, and how much I should expect it to raise, if every payment continues to be on time? ****I checked with my loan company AND THEY DO report to all 3 credit bureaus....****
