Credit report?

Does anybody know if it is possible to remove bankruptcies and other negative items off of a credit report and if so how is it done?

  1. Not possible. You can dispute the reportings, but if the creditor can document the account, it stays on your report.
  2. It's called patience. All items must be removed from credit reports after seven years.
  3. No it is not possible to remove negative items off your credit report! Unless the debts are not yours. Then you can argue them. Bankruptcies stay on for 10 yrs and other negative items can stay on for 7 years but then if they turn them over to a collection agency lets say 5 years after the debt then they tend to place it on your report again, which you can argue. Best thing is to start rebuilding your credit with a secure debit card or something which you know you can afford payments on. Good Luck
  4. The only way is to wait. You need to start to rebuild you credit with secured credit cards. Credit cards from department stores. You can get them with small limits. Pay them off as soon as possible. The more current credit history will show that you have taken charge of you credit status. As far as the bankruptcies only time will roll them off. 10 years is the rule but establishing new credit will lessen the black mark against your credit
  5. You have 3 options for clearing up your credit. The first is to go with a credit counseling/repair agency but read this http://creditwisdom.blogspot.com/2006/09/deal-on-credit-counseling-repair-and_15.html before you make that decision. The next option is to clear it up yourself, there are many do it yourself credit repair books on the market and it's really alot easier than it sounds. You can write dispute letters to the agencies to have erroneous negative items removed, a sample dispute letter can be found here: http://creditwisdom.blogspot.com/2006/10/same-dispute-letter_11.html and you should also contact creditors individually and try to negotiate arrangements with them for large and/or outstanding debts. Your last option is to wait it out. It's not the quickest approach but its guaranteed. Few things stay on your report indefinitely so it's only a matter of time before your credit clears up on it's own. For a timeline on how long negative items stay on your report, check out http://creditwisdom.blogspot.com/2006/09/credit-report-timeline.html Finally, in the meantime you want to work on improving the credit that you do have through responsible credit management. For times on raising your credit score the old fashioned way see http://creditwisdom.blogspot.com/2006/09/raising-your-credit-score.html Good luck!
  6. You can not remove "true and accurate" information from your credit report. Bankruptcies stay on for 10 years, all other items stay for 7. But....... You need to know how the game is played. This is how those "credit repair companies" work. There are only 2 ways to get negative information removed from your credit report. 1) The creditor must remove it 2) The creditor fails to respond to a dispute investigation, or fails to validate a debt. Armed with this knowledge, take a look at the links I've supplied below. Send out your dispute letters, and "demand to validate" letters. Some items will be removed, others won't. But it's a start.
  7. All you have to do is purchase your 3 in 1 credit report from www.equifax.com and follow the instructions to dispute negative information on your credit report. Many of the companies that put negative information on your report throw away that information after a short period of time. In order for a negative item to stay on your report the disputes you open have to be resolved within 30 days or the item has to come off of your report. When you dispute the accuracy of the information many of the accounts will not be able to verify the information and therfore the negative entry will have to be removed from your report. This will clean up a bunch. The stuff that they are able to verify will stay on the report. This is the ONLY way to remove items from your report and clean up your credit.
