  1. http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/transfer/tr_adm_reqs.html See the requirements in there. I assume you're applying as a transfer student. You can take a certain number of units as pass/no pass. One class worth is way below the limit.
  2. Yes, it might affect your admission to other schools. If you are using the history class to fulfill an admission requirement and the school you are applying to does not accept CR/NC grades, then it may affect your admission status. Ultimately, most colleges will not allow you to use CR/NC as a grading option for core requirements. Check with an advisor at the school you intend to transfer to. Since you have specific questions about admission to CSU or to UC schools, I would suggest you either contact the Admissions Offices to inquire. A lot of times, you can also find a lot of information on the schools' websites. Best wishes!
  3. I went to Las Positas for a year and I think Chabot and Las Positas are on the same system. As far as I understand, CR/NC classes are simply pass/fail and they don't affect your GPA at all, regardless of whether you pass the class or not. The only time I have ever heard of anyone trying to take a class CR/NC was when he was doing poorly in a class and just decided to take it CR/NC in the middle of the semester so he didn't have to worry about his GPA going down if he ended up failing the class. Some universities place a maxium amount of CR/NC units you are allowed to use towards transfer and/or graduation, so I think that's the only thing you might have to worry about. Just out of curiousity, why are you taking so many classes CR/NC? I woud visit with a counselor out at Chabot before you decide to take any more classes Credit/No Credit. Good luck with the rest of your college education.
  4. I've never seen a reputable college accept a CR/NC grading option for a required core class. The classes you're taking appear to be general core requirements, but ultimately, you'll have to retake them again even if the college accepts the classes (they would accept it as *elective* classes, NOT core). I would change your grading option now if you have the chance.
