Does credit history of legal migrants reflect late payments prior to when they recieved a SS#?

This was a classroome discussion - what happens to new migrants who recieve a SS# after residing in the US for a year or so? Would their credit history reflect any late payments, defaults etc that occured in the time period prior to recieving their SS#? Or does their credit history only go as far back as the moment they were assigned the SS#? Thanks!

  1. I believe your credit history would only reflect the time period after receiving your SS#. My only qualification to this is if a credit report from your country of origin is necessary for getting a SS#. Please note though, you will still be treated as if you have no credit history. No credit history can be just as bad as having a bad credit history.
