- Daze: With your credit score you should be able to start an account with just about any company. Be sure you read the ''terms and conditions" as to how the company wants you to re-pay any debt. There are a lot of scumbag companies that have a "two tier" re-payment plan hidden in the fine print. They will offer you a low interest rate, change it and stick it to you. How does a "two tier" interest repayment work? Let's say you buy an item for $100 and the interest rate is 8%. You make a couple of payment's at 8% interest rate. Now you buy something else for another $100 BUT the company changed your interest to 10%. Your next payment is only applied to the FIRST purchase you made. The new purchase and the new interest rate are not credited with any payment. The payments keep going to the original purchase and origingal interest rate until satisfied. If it takes a year to pay back the original $100 that is a year the SECOND purchase and the new interest rate has been building. You will wind up owing a lot of money. Hope I am making sense. The best thing you could do is to read the "terms and conditions" before you sign up. If the company says they can change the rates (which a lot of them do) and if it states that they have a "two tier" system, run for the hills. And yes this is legal. Lots of luck
- You should be able to obtain a credit card. Cards for stores and gasoline are the easiest to obtain, In some campuses they actually recruit students for credit card companies. Use the credit card wisely. Many people your age do not understand that they are making a loan after the period before interest is charged is over. The loan is very expensive frequently having interest res over 20% a year, Use the credit card wisely. Attempt to pay back the money that you borrow before the due date. If you cannot do that then make sure that you send money to the credit card company before the due date. Send more than the minimum. You have a good credit score. Used wisely a credit card can actually increase your credit score. Used improperly there could be disastrous consequences for your credit score and your ability to borrow.
