What is a good number of credit cards to have? does the number of cards matter to keep a good credit score?

  1. The lesser the better. U get tempted to spend more when u have more number of cards. I would recommend two at the most - one of each type, like master card/ visa etc.
  2. Just 1 is enough, babe. I've got my debit card and my credit card, and I'm happy. I don't think how many cards you have affects your score, just how you use them. NEVER have late fees, don't hold a huge balance continuously, and you will be good to go. Basically, be responsible. I only use my credit card for emergencies.
  3. The best, just one. you should search wich one has the lower interest and better services, then stick with that one.
  4. hi! If there are other credit cards that offer balance transfer programs, it's wise to grab them because you can save in terms of interests. But a word of advice, don't use it for other purposes other than pay-off the balance that you transfered. Should you want to swipe your card, use your previous card which has already zero balance. In this case, if ever you again want to avail of another balance transfer, your older card will again qualify. 2-3 cards are just enough to keep your credit in control. Having too many would definitely put you on the "over-exposed" list and that's a bad credit score.
  5. it doesn't matter as long as you pay your bills on time. to bill good credit and maintain one is to always pay your bills on time, use your credit card every month (not using the credit card or not using it often doesn't hurt your credit but doesn't help either) and not max out (20% of the credit line is ideal)
