What number is considered good credit score?

Public Comments

  1. It varies, but usually 700 is the lowest "good" credit score. 750 or higher is most desireable.
  2. What is "good" must be judged by a lender's desire to extend credit based on a credit score. Lender behave differently with the same credit score. There's no law that they must extend credit based solely on a credit score. First, there are several credit scores that are marketed (one competitor is the Vantage Score). The most popular and accepted one is the credit score by Fair Isaac Co (FICO). An average FICO score is 673 - 720, depending on the survey. Thus, anything higher than 720 is clearly above average. Many people have reported that when they improved their credit history, and their FICO scores rose above 670, they soon were flooded with pre-approved offers for more credit. Above FICO 750 - 760, you can get the lowest interest rates and best deals anywhere. 13% of the population has a score of 800 or above. The highest score I've ever seen is 828, and the highest possible is 850. You can read more at the source, below. Click the Support tab for many free articles and downloads. 3. 680+ is considered good
  4. I was reading this site http://www.mintcreditrepair.com/3-ways-to-improve-a135.html It said 725 is the lowest you would want to go. Good article also on how to improve your credit score. Hope This Helps
  5. The national average score is 675. I work for a Chrysler dealer and Chrysler requires 680+ to get their prime rates. There are several things that go into making up your credit score. 1. Payment history 35% 2. Time in bureau 15% 3. New credit 10% 4. Type of credit used 10% 5. Debt to income ratio 30% As you can see from the above list, 1,2&5 are the most critical as far as score goes. Having a good long payment history, being in the credit bureaus for a long time and keeping your debt ratio low makes up 75% of your credit score. I see people every week with a score of 680+ that can not buy a car because their score is made up of 1 credit card with a $500.00 limit paid 15-times and a couple of student loans. They think just because they have a good score they should be able to buy what ever they want. It simply doe's not owrk that way.
  6. Small steps like paying your bills on time and using only part of the credit available to you. Also use your credit cards for making small payments regularly, so that it is reflected in your credit record. More tips available at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/buildcredit.html
  7. It depends on what your question is pertaining to. If you are looking for a mortgage then score above 620 are meant OT be decent and anything above 680 is good. frank@profolioloan.com 713-429-4304 ext-2238
