If i reapply for a new credit account number, will that lower my credit score?
Hi, Credit card vendor closed my account, but I paid off my bills (because my ex used the card and never pay it in full and i filed it as fraud). I would like to reopen my account. But i was told to reapply. If i reapply for a new account number, will that lower my credit score? I am asking because - I saw my credit report, it said "closed by credit vendor". I want to change that to "open"... Please advise me before I make any mistake.

- Nah, doesn't matter. In fact more credit accounts usually lead to higher score.
- It may lower it slightly, but if you need the card and have no others you should pursue re-opening it.
- it could i heard every time ur credit gets pulled up it goes lower
- Hi, It will not. You will continue to maintain the same credit score even if you opt for a new number. Check out http://financeguru.consumerspot.info for some useful info and tips. Good luck!
- Ok first off, yes it will affect your credit, but not very bad. If you keep applying and using your SS number, then it will do more serious damage. You need to call the credit agency, and you can have them take the "Closed by vendor" account off. If you paid it, then they can take it off. My husband just went thru this. he paid them all, then called equifax, and they took the negatives off, because they were paid. call them, they will help you. They are actually really nice and acoomodating peopel
