  2. Most FICO based scores run between 300 and 850. Vantage scores go up to 990. The changes are determined based on statistical models that attempt to predict defaults. Factors in the models include your payment history, the amount of credit that is available to you vs. the amount that is being used, how long your accounts have been open and the types of accounts they are. You can find out more about credit scoring at www.myfico.com or any of the 3 credit bureau's websites.
  3. Your credit score is made up of the following; 1. Payment history 35% 2. Time in bureau 15% 3. Type of credit used 10% 4. New credit 10% 5. Debt to credit ratio 30% Scores run from 300 to 850 for FICO, anything that scores under 300 defaults to a 0. As you can see items 1,2&5 are the most important as far as score is concerned. You need a combination of at least 2 credit card accounts (revolving) and 2 auto, boat, home, furnature or personal loans (installment) all with good long pay historys to get a good score and a good profile. Be sure and keep your credit card accounts below 30% of your credit limit each month and pay before the due date.
