4. If you've been denied credit for reasons of poor credit, you can get a free report from the reporting agency. Otherwise, use the http://www.annualcreditreport.com site. This is the ONLY truly FREE credit REPORT site (and it's only valid if you're in the US). Your credit SCORE will cost you, usually about $10. I believe you can order it when you get your free report. If you use annualcreditreport.com, only request one report at a time. Request the next one in 4 months and the last one in 4 more months. This way, you can keep tabs on your report throughout the year.
