Has anyone experienced a drop in credit score from Lending Tree?
Just recently, I just went to lendingtree for a prequalifcation for a home mortgage. It was free, didn't give my social, but did allow up to 5 lenders to check my credit score. I pressed "submit", but then had that bad feeling in my stomach, and started doing more research. I'm now concerned from reading what a few people have been saying on websites such as ripoffreport.com, that lendingtree sells credit information to numerous lenders, ruining their credit scores. I'm not even ready to apply for a loan, I just wanted to know what I can afford before even shopping for a home! I now basically feel duped, and now these lenders are going to harass me, pull my credit an untold number of times, ruin my score, and ruin my chances of getting a loan! Has anyone had this experience with Lendingtree?

- NEVER use the web to check or get info about your credit. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER DO THAT...... YOU CAN WRITE TO SAY WHY YOU HAVE ALL THOSE CHECKS IN YOUR REPORT.... GOOD LUCK
- lending tree is a marketing company! now without giving your social i don't think your score can go down. the fact is lending tree does indeed sell your contact info and what you answered on line to about 10 different brokers. you will get lots of calls soon. the fact is they will sell your info more than once so expect a bunch of calls for a while! if you are looking for a idea of just what you qualify for i will include a calculator below many on line companies out there sell info I went to a new one on line and they where awesome! great rates and only one call! since you are only looking to see what you qualify for here is a link you will not have to give them your info just to see what you qualify for. i financed with this company they did right by me! try the loan qualifier calculator it should give you a good idea to start with be aware once you are ready to start making offers on a home you should have a preapproval letter so the sellers will take yo seriously
- The good news is you didn't give you SS number. They can't pull your credit without it. Here's what you need to do: go to www.optoutprescreen.com and "opt out" of prequal deals. This will stop you from getting those prequal credit cards and whatnot. It may also stop LendingTree from sending you TOO much stuff. It's best to meet with an actual broker to get prequals. LendingTree advertises that they will give you 4 different quotes - well, when clients come see me I can get them quotes from just over 40 different lenders! I don't show all 40 to the borrower - that would be a waste of their time - but I pick the ones that fit them best and we go over those. Find yourself a broker you trust and have them help you out. You might start by asking who your friends and family used and go off that. Good luck!
