is there an auto credit score, that is different than your regular credit score?
I was at a car dealership and the salesman told me that, " an auto credit score is different" than the score a lender would use for a home loan or furniture. is that true?

- Nope all the same. You can get yours once a year for free from freecreditreport.com it's the law.
- Yes. They factor in different variables. They look more at how you have done with car payments for the main thing.
- its just car salesman jargon that they are trying to talk to you with, there is only 1 true credit score thats the same across the board. don't let them lie to you and feed you a bunch of crap to screw you with a bad interest rate
- yes, your credit score will be different based on what purpose the lender pulls it for. However if you are a 700 plus credit score it really should not matter. NEVER GO INTO A CAR DEALERSHIP WITHOUT BEING PRE-APPROVED. If you get pre-approved before you enter a car lot you have made it very hard for the dealership to play games with you. I would recommend calling local credit union and getting a rate before you shop. remember good credit is good credit regardless what a car dealer tells you.
