help with credit score

free credit scores

is there an auto credit score, that is different than your regular credit score?

I was at a car dealership and the salesman told me that, " an auto credit score is different" than the score a lender would use for a home loan or furniture. is that true?

  1. Nope all the same. You can get yours once a year for free from freecreditreport.com it's the law.
  2. Yes. They factor in different variables. They look more at how you have done with car payments for the main thing.
  3. its just car salesman jargon that they are trying to talk to you with, there is only 1 true credit score thats the same across the board. don't let them lie to you and feed you a bunch of crap to screw you with a bad interest rate
  4. yes, your credit score will be different based on what purpose the lender pulls it for. However if you are a 700 plus credit score it really should not matter. NEVER GO INTO A CAR DEALERSHIP WITHOUT BEING PRE-APPROVED. If you get pre-approved before you enter a car lot you have made it very hard for the dealership to play games with you. I would recommend calling local credit union and getting a rate before you shop. remember good credit is good credit regardless what a car dealer tells you.
