How Can I get credit card company ( Discover) to remove a charged-off account, not mine, on my credit report ?

the Discover account reported in Experian was a charged off and was updated last month (ruined my credit), it said was a joint account which I Jointly open in 1994 (when i was only 11 years old). The same account was in Transunion report, but had not been updated since August 2006, while the account was still in good order. I had disputed with Experian, but Experian had said it had been investigated and was verified as true, (blown my mind). I had contacted Discover, after the result from Experian, but Discover could not located the account, reason they gave was because "the account was probably under the primary account holder's name, if you can give me his/her name or social security #, I can defintely locate the account for you". what an idiot Discover had hired to work for them. Discover then said, it will contact me within 2-3 days, but i had not heard from them since. Anyone know how to handle this please help.

  1. If a credit card provider (banks mostly) cannot settle a disputed transaction, proceed to small claims tribunal.
  2. Demand in writing that you want verifiable proof that the credit card was issued in your name and recorded with you ss #.. Demand that Discover card send you the legal documents proving that you have responsibility for the account.. Check the fair credit reporting act and find the quidelines that a company must follow when reporting a debt.. Write a letter to experian and the others.. send it by certified mail.. where they have to sign for it.. demand that they get proof that the credit card was issued to you and that you have legal responsibility.. send it this month and send it next month and the next month if you have to.. send it certified each and everytime.. discover can claim it but the law says they have to be able to prove it.. hold their feet to the fire.. otherwise they will do nothing.. its your show.. put it on!
  3. You can file a complaint with the FTC here https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
