How can i find out if anyone has used my SS # for anything? (read details please)?
My fiance's mother asked him for his SS# so she could add him to her dental insurance. Now, a month later she doesn't remember asking him for it. She has, in the past, used her kids SSN's for various things (i.e. utiltiy hook-up) so he believes she used it for somethine else. i know he needs to contact experian ect. but i cannot find the numbers any where. any suggestions? i have been on the experian, equifax, and transunion websites and the only numbers listed are for disputes on a credit report which he doesnt have.... I understand that this is his mother, and i am acting on HIS request to find out what she may have done with the number as she has a history of thinking she is entitled to her childrens ssn's. this is a woman who doesnt think of anyone but herself. she has tried to get us to give up custody of our kids to her so she could draw a bigger ss check. she may be his mother but i am going to be his WIFE...if she is screwing with his credit that affects me. What if we want to buy a house and cant because she is creating bills and not paying them. and if she had put him on the dental insurance, she would have told him as he is in need of dental work.

- Go to annualcreditreport.com and get copies of his credit report. Then, look on the web for contact numbers to let Experian, TransUnion and Equifax know you need to file a fraud alert.
- The Social Security Agency should be the FIRST place you call. They have a very active fraud deterrence effort afoot now.They might not be able to help you with discovering what the # is being used for, but they should be notified because your BF is going to liable for any income reported under his number, and that is the least of his troubles with identity theft.
- This is his Mother. He needs to sit her down and make her tell him what she did with his SS number. She may have actually put him on her dental plan. You need to stay out of it because you are going to make bad blood in a family of which you are not part. It is his business.
