How to dispute credit?

I had credit pulled by a mortgage company and noticed errors. I want to dispute but I don;t want a credit report from the companies (I mean, I already have one, why the overkill) do I HAVE to have one by them to dispute online? If I want to dispute by mail, do I have to use the form from Transunion since I do not have a credit report by them. Also, what is the mailing address for Experian?

  1. You can write a blanket letter with your disputes. Include your name, soc. sec. #, date of birth, sign the letter and put the account numbers you are disputing and why. The credit bureaus will investigate and send you a letter back about the status of their investigation. They will not remove accurate information even if you don't agree with it. Your real beef is with the original creditor, not the credit bureaus. You should be contacting the original creditors as well as the credit bureaus.
  2. No make a copy of what you have, write a letter telling them they are in error and to take them off. =========================== Experian is in TX, tommorow I will get it for you. =============== Transunion has an online dispute form in pdf the address though is: Transunion Customer Solutions P.O. Box 2000 Chester, PA 19022 Experian phone is: Contact by phone: 888 397 3742 Equifax is: Equifax Information Services LLC P.O. Box 740256 Atlanta, GA 30374
  3. you have to dispute it on each credit report that is wrong. All three agencies are NOT working together so you have to send the info to all three. Do not expect miracles disputing it they get around to it at their own convience.
  4. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and this is the easiest, cheapest (free) and fastest way to dispute everything!
  5. 1) Ask for credit reports from the bureaus. 2) Look out for any errors in it. 3) Prepare a Credit Dispute Log recording the details of problems and errors. 4) Contact telephonically the original debtors with whom you are having a dispute. Record the details of the call, especially the name of the person with whom you spoke and a brief overview of the agreements. 5) Send the certified letter to the original debtor. 6) Send letters to collectors, disputing the bill. Also, send the proof of payment to the original lender. 7) Fill out the dispute form available at the credit bureau. 8) Write a letter for each disagreed item separately and send it to the credit bureau by certified mail. Attach the proof to support your claim. 9) The bureau will provide you a reference number. Call up the bureau with this reference number and find out the progress of the matter. 10) Maintain a Credit File containing detailed records of your case.
