help with credit score

free credit scores

I just ordered my credit report from Facts Act?

I ordered all 3 of them through them on the phone, will all 3 still come with dispute forms so I can dispute inquries? Like you can online? Or am I going to have to send a letter to all the companies with the order numer and dispute through them? Or should I do both, my online credit report which I paid 30 bucks for and only got two reports say I have 8 inquries that were used to determine my score over the last 6 months, but there were I counted 28 of them. Some of these I did make, but some of them are on there twice from the same company, some of them are from the same day, I was under the impression that auto loans and such made within two weeks of each other counts as one.

  1. I assume you want to clean up your credit report and raise your score? If that is the case, don't use the dispute forms, they are worded incorrectly for the purpose of removing derogatory data. Use a handwritten letter stating, "Please verify the following accounts." Then list all the problem accounts, wether or not they are yours. Most of these accounts will fall off your next report because the credit bureau won't receive the verification, or won't receive it on time (30 days) and you will get a letter in about 45 days stating the account was removed. If you use their dispute form you can be accused of making false statements such as "Account not mine" or "Account was paid in full" and there could be legal ramifications for lying to the credit bureaus, it is a crime. Asking for verification is not the same as denying the account is yours or accurate. You will send one letter to each of the three companies and keep the certified mail receipt. If you don't hear from the company after 45 days, you will write a letter stating that these items were not verified within the 30 day period as allowed by law and must immediately be removed from your credit report. You will receive an updated credit report, but your score will cost you extra. Don't worry about inquiries, most are not counted against your score. If an item does not come off the first time, or comes back (rare in my experience, but possible) just wait a month and ask for verification again, and again - don't give up. I helped friends remove a 'foreclosure started' notation, repossesion of two autos, credit cards for $5000 - even one for over $30,000 that was totally fraudulent. 80% of all credit reports have errors and its possible to wipe them out yourself, but it is time consuming. Don't give up. Enjoy your new credit, don't you dare be late again on any of your obligations and your score will be 700+ in short order!
  2. First, you should not have paid for your credit reports. You are entitled to receive a copy of each of your 3 credit reports completely free as mandated by the government. The ONLY free site is https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp. Second, each credit reporting agency has instructions on their respective websites on how to dispute incorrect items. Follow these instructions.
  3. christopher is not telling you that after the accounts are removed very often they reappear the next time that creditor reports to the credit bureaus and it is back on your report. the reason they report 8 and you count 28 is because your impression is correct and even though listed they do not count against you. "insider hint", all those fancy ways people come up with to supposedly get your mail seen and handled many times fall in the waste basket. By mistake of course.
