incorrect credit collections account?

I have a collections account that keeps showing up on my credit report. I dispute it and it goes away for a few months then shows up again. I have documentation from the company the collections was trying to collect for; showing that I don't owe any money. I've called the company that placed the collections and they said "oh its an oxford collections, yeah they do that.." After calling oxford collections they keep putting me to voice mail and never call back. How do I get this taken off my credit reports when the collection agency refuses to talk to me? Do I have to take them to court, or is that even an option? (assuming this falls under a form of libel)

  1. Contact the credit bureus directly and notify them with any documentation that you have substantiating your claim from the creditors themselves. You can also demand a 3-way call in which you can talk to a supervisor of the creditor and a member of one of the three major bureus.
  2. Taking them to court is an option if you have proof that you don't owe them any money. It may come to that.
  3. It can be really hard to get these things removed from your credit report. I had a few accounts show up on mine and I don't know how many times I sent in proof that I never lived at that address in question - but I was finally able to get it removed. The key is to not give up. Send proof (certified) to the credit bureaus and to the collection agency and don't give up until it's gone.
