Is there a letter/form to reinvestigate an item on my credit report?
after revewing my credit report I found a company whose service I never received so I sent a letter to the credit bureau. they investigated and sent me a letter stating the information was accurate. However this company is based in CA and I live in TX. What other letter can I send to dispute this information?

- Are you sure it's not a company you dealt with? Could it be an affiliate of a branch you did business with? If not, contact them again. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
- You can send a Debt Validation letter to the company on your credit report, if they're reporting it as a debt. You have to ask for a copy of your agreement with them and that they respond withing 30 days. You can probably find samples of it on the net. What you need to keep in mind is that they may have offices in CA but that doesn't mean that that's where you did business with them. If there is a debt listed, it is possible that they purchased the debt from another of your creditors. The point of the Debt Validation letter is that they have to validate the debt. If they don't, you have the right to ask that the trade-line be removed from your credit report. I recommend that you send the letter via certified U.S. mail with return receipt requested. If they don't validate it, you have to contact the credit bureaus and let them know that there was no response.
- All the credit reporting agency did was send a request to ask if the debt was valid from the company. The company just responded yes it was, so as far as the CRA is concerned it is valid. So now you have to deal with the company directly. You first must send a debt validation letter to the company. In the letter you must request proof that you owe the debt, such as a signed agreement. Send this by certified mail with return receipt. They have 30 days to respond to you, if they do not respond in that time you can then send another letter to the CRA's stating that you requested validation and they did not respond. The CRA then will remove the listing from your report. Now, if this company does validate the debt, you will have to deal with that as to why they say you owe the debt.
- On your credit report all companys can visit a certain part of it , but that's as far as it gets. It shows them who you've had credit with and your credit score to them. Personal information isn't given to them. There's a lot they don't see. I wouldn't worry about them being on there. The one you don't want in there is an individual snooping around to defraud you. Using your credit info to get credit somewhere. Be aware of all of this kind of activity. Equifax has a service to keep you informed. If you're afraid that someone is going to use your info then put a fraud alert on your report. That way a creditor has to contact you personally , before they issue credit.
- Yes, I got them and more with a kit I received from the source website. I did most of the work myself and it paid off.
