Is it better to pay a credit card company or a collection agency.?

I am trying to repair my credit and i was told theat collection agencies will not remove the debt from your credit score

1. You can negotiate removal with a payment sometimes to the collection agency, the offer is in writing first or you will pay and still not get it removed. The CC companies will tell you it is impossible though they put the info there and just as easily remove it.
2. All a collector/credit card company has do is report that it has been paid, once you pay your debt. They have an obligation to report what actually happened.
