Is there any way to raise your credit score in a few weeks by up to 10 points or so?

Yes, if I can get it raised by about 10 points I will be in the next "bracket" on the points system. The bracket that goes from Very Poor - Poor, Fair - Good - Excellent. I think those are all of them.

  1. Your credit score is usually synonymous with your FICO score. The score is calculated differently, at least for now, by the 3 major credit bureaus, and each has its own proprietary algorithms for doing so. Given that, there's no easy way to just do something and add 10 points. However, I would suggest going to the Equifax web site and doing your own research. One thing you can always do to improve your score is pay off your credit card or any outstanding loans. Be careful, doing some things you think might help can actually hurt your score, such as closing out old accounts. A long credit history is actually good.
  2. Pay all your debts. Open new credit cards to increase your debt ratio
  3. Typically raising your score by 10 points will not affect your scores enough to change your interest rates unless you know you are 10 points or less below the next credit tier(an auto loan example) I paid off my Macy's card last month and it was less than 50% utilized(I had a balance less than 50% of my credit line) and it only raised my FICO score(Equifax) by 12 points. I actually thought it would raise my score more since this was the only credit card I had that had a balance. Go figure, that's why credit scoring doesn't always make sense. Good Luck
