whats the fastest way to raise your credit score?

Public Comments

  1. do not cancel any credit cards. pay them off and cut them up. do not consistently apply for credit, raises in credit, ceel phones. if you apply to too many too often it dramatically lowers your score. if you cancel your credit cards your fica score drops.
  2. pay your bills
  3. 1. Pay down revolving debt to below 33% of the approved limit. So if you have a 1,000 limit on a credit card with a balance of 999 - it's killing your score. Get the balance below $333 and you'll see an improvement. 2. Keep making payments on time. 3. DONT close accounts "Fast" means a minimum of 3 months to see significant changes.
  4. The other answers are right, but the focus is to lower your debt by paying your bills on time, too. And like the other responder pointed out, be aware of getting and closing new cards!
  5. Get a card from some department store. Have a certain spending limit & STAY IN THAT LIMIT ONLY. Every month, when you have to pay, you already have the money, so you can pay by check. Thus every month that you pay on time & all at once (with the money you have set aside), then you can raise your credit report. Start out at $20 a month, then work your way up to about $100-$200, and keep it there.
  6. Depends on your credit, you can raise your score 100 points in 15 minutes ( very situational ) but it serves no practicallity unless you are using Experian, and what you are trying to buy uses Experian to look at credit. For general credit score health, follow the instructions above, he nailed it on the head. ( credit card balances, inquiries, etc.. )
  7. Pay your revolving debt down to 15% of your limits and dispute any negative entries on your credit report. Do not close any accounts and do not apply for any credit until you are ready for the big show.
