Where can I go to get a free credit score online?

NOT report, just score. preferably free.

1. Credit scores (or FICO scores) are the sole and patented property of the Fair Issacs Corp. They are NOT required to give them away and they don't. Sorry. If you go to: http://www.annualcreditreport.com you can get your report for free (once a year) and your FICO score for a nominal fee. I think it's around $9.
2. Don't know where you would get it for free online. The only way I know you can get it for free is to apply for a loan or credit, but this will result in a "hard inquiry" on your credit report, lowering your scores 3 to12 points. Additionally,this wont be your true FICO score. Your actually FICO score is only available through Fair Issac and mortgage lenders when they pull your credit. Fair Issac charges around $40 for all three scores, and it includes a report.
