- I saw an advertisement recently that said 678 is average.
- I would do alot of mortgages. And I see a ton of credit reports. Its kinda hard to answer. You have to understand you have 30% of the nation that havent and wont use their credit until they die. They are all over 800 plus. You have 18 year olds that got a car, or a credit card and in college. They are all 700 plus. Once they start buying stuff, such as a house. Their score is going to hell. ie. A guy was bragging to his wife that he had a 750 score. I said the highest bill you have had is 2,000 dollars. When you take out the 170K mortgage those algorythms are going to hell. I think you drop 125 points. I think you will be 625. I was wrong, took him to 580. He never proved he could pay it. Then you have the people that use it. If you take out the above 2, I would say around 630-675. Remember you have 3 agencies that are usually within 20-30 points. But I have seen them being off over 100 points. Because not everybody reports to both. Then I can really make a mess of this. Take experian. You go get your credit card they pull experian. You have 700 on your fico. I pull it for a mortgage its 620. Same company 80 points different? Why credit card companies use Experian-1, mortgage companies use Experian-2. Same company totally different score. Dont worry too much you probably have 8 scores floating around from 3 companies and none of them will be the same.
- 720 is the average, but to get the best rates today, you need above 760.
