which car insurance companies check for credit ratings to provide quotes?
I have excellent credit score however I am not able to get a cheaper quote for car insurance. All the quotes I get online only ask for driving history and vehicle information but none of them seem to be interested in credit history? any ideas?

- I know that Progressive asks for your credit score.
- Not sure whether you are in the US or UK but in the UK, insurance companies base their premiums on driving risks mainly, nothing to do with credit scoring. Although I think you'll find that some have a disclaimer that you are assumed to have accepted stating that you aren't bankrupt etc. Some companies are much better than others for younger/inexperienced drivers etc, how old are you? Don't bother with one of those moneysupermarket.com or similar sales comparison sites, I've heard that they add a fee to the quote and as such do not get you the best quote at all. Just shop around yourself. It's always best to check the exact details of your cover as well as some less recognised companies don't provide as adequate cover as others. All UK insurance companies will comply with the Road traffic act (i.e. minimum third party risk etc) but they could skimp in other areas - always worth checking.
- All of them check, unless you're in CA. They are giving you an INDICATION, not a binding quote. They'll do the MVR verification and credit score at the end, after you've committed to buying their policy. It costs them about $17 a pop to run those two reports, so they don't do it until you've committed. Then if you've fibbed, they tack on extra.
