have bad credit history?

i have very bad credit history in uk.due to loss of my job i cudn't pay my credit card bills.am in USA NOW .Will it effect me or getting social security number here.plz help? i have bad credit history in uk .coz i lost my job i cudn't pay my credit card bills .am here on work permit .will my bad credit history effect my getting social security number, can i rebulid a new credit score here.thanks

1. You will have no credit history here. If Immigration has let you in and issued a green card you can get a Social Security number.
2. No. It may affect your credit but not your getting a social security card. One has nothing to do with the other. Maybe it should, but it doesn't . If it did, there are a bunch of people living here who would be losing their social security numbers.
3. If you have a valid work permit for the U.S., you can get a social security number regardless of your credit history. Anyone who can legally work in the U.S. can get a social security number with adequate identification (in your case, I would bring a passport from your home country and your U.S. work permit).
