Credit Rating Score?
Does anyone know any telephone numbers I can call to get my credit rating score? I ordered one through the mail and it didn't say my score on it...I live in the toronto area...any help would be greatly appreciated

- I don't know of any phone numbers although any one of the 3 credit bureaus Experian, Equifax, and Trans-Union may have that option available. Go to their website and check. Realize that credit scores are not static and may change quite frequently based on factors like the last time you charged something, a credit card payment was posted to your account, the frequency with which each bureau updates their files (they all have different schedules), ect. - The "Big Three" in credit are Equifax: (800) 685-1111, Experian (888) 397-3742, and TransUnion (800) 888-4213. All three will provide you with a free copy of your credit. As far as actually getting your numerical score, I suggest you try Fair Isaac's website at myFICO.com. You can play around with your score here by using the hypotheticals the site provides. For instance, what would happen to your score if you paid down a credit card balance? What if you paid it off? That type of thing. Please be aware that for some users of their scoring (such as mortgage providers) they will look at all three of your scores, one from each provider. If this is your situation, any mortgage person can get you a "merged" report with all three scores for about $15. If you are just trying to get a general sense of where you stand, save the money and do it yourself.
- Not sure about Canada, but in the US you get your report for free each year from each reporting agency. However, this is just the report, you have to pay a fee (usually less than $10) for the score. If your not in a hurry, wait until the next time you apply for a loan with a bank or finance company and request a copy of the report. Otherwise you can pay for it online from any of the reporting agency's anytime.
