Credit cards?

If I have a Bank of America Gold card already with $5,000 credit limit, and recently requested another BoA credit card and they only gave me a $2,000 credit limit on that one (but I plan to combine them into the second new card)...will they approve my credit line increase request on the newly issued card if I was turned down recently for a increase on my Gold card? Haven't received the newly issued card in the mail yet, but it appeared online under my account as $2,000 credit limit already, so I assume it's active already.

  1. The likely hood is you will need to have the card in good standing for a few months to recieve a credit increace...why exactly are you trying to get a credit increase when you already have $7k in credit from this company?
  2. Youneed to speak with BofA. Explain the situation and see what they can do. It is usually easier if you call them rather than applying for an additional card.
  3. First off, do not assume they are going to let you combine the two cards into one. BofA may decide to extend you a total of $7K, but it will depend on your history both credit history and BofA account history. For example, have you been overdrawn? That may not show on your credit report, but they will know about it. Hope this helps. I know it isn't truely answering your question, but without knowing your personal history it would be impossible.
  4. There's no way to tell until you speak with BOFA. Most companies will not allow you to transfer balances between accounts held with them.
  5. Yha call BoA why do you need so much credit?
  6. you can request an increase at any time <thats what they say> but if you request one, or if you got a new card, youll only be approved once every 6-12 months. Yes you can combine your cards, but it does NOT mean you will get the combined limit.
