How do you improve your credit score quickly?

- Pay your damn bills
- there no is quick way ,sorry. pay your bill on time, never go over credit limit
- The best way - and believe me I know - to quickly make an impact on your score is to pay down your balances so that your balance to debt ration is 33% or less. In other words, if you have a credit limit of $1000.00 on a card, pay your balance down to less than $333.00. I always pay my bills on time, but am "credit challenged" at times by a mediocre score and I am guilty of using too much of my credit at times. My best friend is a mortgage broker and she told me that balance to debt ratio is a biggie. Anyhow, when I bought my last house I paid my credit cards down to less than 25% of their limit and my score went up 70 points. My friend told me that is an unusual increase and that scores shouldn't vacillate that much, but mine does. If you have been paying anything late, pay it on time and then call the creditor and ask them for a change in the "late payment". Many will say no - especially the high interest "last chance" creditors, but some will say yes. I made a late car payment once to Chase a few years ago (my disorganization knows no bounds at times) and was astounded that, when I called to ask them to change the late payment, they told me it was their policy to forgive one if the customer asked. Also, avoid a bunch of new inquiries or opening up new accounts. The best thing to do, long term, is to pay everything on time, keep balances low, have a mortgage or car payment, never get a collection account, and avoid a lot of new credit and focus on getting some age on your other accounts. Anyhow, the only fast thing I know of is paying down balances. If you have collection accounts you can always call and offer to pay if they remove it - sometimes it will work, sometimes not, but if they agree to do this they'll need to fax you a letter first saying if you pay, they'll delete the account (not show it as paid, that will just create new activity on a crappy account). Good luck!
- Call your credit card company and ask for a higher credit limit. that should do it for now.
- Again, this is something best left to the professionals. Usually you are charged a fee of about $500 for a year long program with the bulk of the improvement coming in the first 90 days. Check out the credit repair hot button at; www.totaldebtsolutionsllc.com
