Does getting records deleted instantly boost credit score?

I have some things on my report that have been there for awhile. I havent paid on any of them. I know this is somewhat of a leverage if I want to call the creditors and make an agreement to pay in full in exchange for deleting the record. When they do this does it remove all traces of the negative account from the credit reports? Also, will this instantly boost the credit once that record is deleted? Just to add a little more. All the negative things are from collection agencies. There isnt anything from the original creditors.

  1. no. you will have to contact the credit bureau (i.e. experian, transunion, etc) and inform them of your situation and make sure not only the item is removfed but also the points that were taken from your credit score are replenished immediately. ask the credit bureau when they will replenish your credit rating.
  2. No, it will show for 7 years you didn't pay. Why should they bargain? They can garnish your wages. Of course it might be beyond that statute of limitations, depending upon your state. No quick fix on the credit report. You blew it, and now you have to pay.
  3. Your score does get boosted when negative info comes off. Don't hold your breath thinking you can "negotiate" getting negative records deleted for full payment now. The time to negotiate was boefre the charged off or sent your account to collections. Since you stated that the negative info has been on your report for "awhile" the company has probably already charged off your account and reported it as a loss and taken the tax benefit. They have absolutely nothing to gain by dealing with you once they have closed your account and charged off your debt.
  4. Does it remove "all" traces of the negative account...No. It depends on who the account is with and what they agree to do. If it is the original creditor(unlikely if these are more than a few months old), they will not remove the negative information. But they will update your account to reflect that it is now paid with a 0 balance. If it is a collection agency, you can get them to remove THEIR collection account. But you have to get them to agree before you send any money. But they have no control with the original creditor. You will still most likely see the Original Creditor Charge-Off. So people who review your report will see that you did have a problem in the past 7 years. It does not matter when you pay them, the negative information can only be reported for 7 years from the date of the first delinquency. So if these were 1 year old, if you pay them now it does not start the 7 years again. When you get them to agree to delete the record your report will be based on what information is left. So your new score will be based on that. In most, but not all, cases it should increase. Just what ever you do be sure you have any agreement from them in writting before you send them any money.
  5. No, to instantly boost your score you should add a tradeline or 2. My aunt did this and her score jumped 100 points in less than 2 months. She signed up at www.totaldebtsolutionsllc.com by filling out their free evaluation form; she was contacted from there. If the collection agencies will not remove stuff, you could always dispute it as well. Good luck.
