1. the fastest way to reduce your credit score is to pay off large amounts/all of your balances on your credit cards, and then ask for a rapid rescore from your credit bureaus. i know i work in the mortgage biz.

3. What glowchild said....pay down balances below 50%. You can write the bureaus asking for a score adjustment. Tell them you are trying to buy a home and need a better score to get approved. Credit accounts that are below 50% show good debt ratio, which is an important credit scoring criteria.
