Does not paying a time share purchased in Mexico have any effect in your US credit report and credit score?

I have a dispute with a time share that I purchased in Mazatlan, Mexico. Contract says that is governed by the laws of the State of Sinaloa, Mexico. When I purchased it I had the contract ammended so the annual maintenance fee would include taxes, as I was verbally told. 10 years later they want to start charging me an extra 17% to pay for federal taxes. They sent this letter to everyone, I may be their only customer that had the contract ammended to say "tax included", but they still want to charge me and they are threatening to report me to an International Credit Bureau and refer the case to a collections agency. Not sure what effect is this going to have on my credit in the U.S.

  1. Mexico is in deep financial trouble right now, they've been spending oil revenue like Kid Rock in a vegas whorehouse...This will be expensive to fight
  2. There is no such thing as US credit and Mexico credit...there is only Worldwide credit because virtually all of the banks in the world are tied together at this point. To make it "official" the government is about to form/join the North American Union which will turn Canada, USA and Mexico into one country using one currency. Why do you think they don't care about "illegal" immigrants from Mexico?
  3. Unfortunately, this is one of the advantages timeshare resorts hold over people that don't want to pay. Yes, if they are like most timeshare resorts, they can ruin your credit and will. Your credit reprot will get a non payment notice and will remain for years on your credit report. Sorry not to be able to give better news...
