1. you can add medication to medication to enhance the desired effects. Example: Giving someone a shot of demerol MIXED with Vistaril will increase the pain relieving effect of the demerol. You can give less pain med, add vistaril (Non narcotic) and make it work better. That is just one example. There are others.
2. it means that one medication may work well but with piggybacking it works better. kind of like the aides cocktail one or two may work but with the cocktail it treats more symptoms so piggybacking may be good in certain circumstances good luck
