Can you dispute Credit Report inquiries?
Someone just asked me this and I didn't know the answer. So I am hoping someone else does. Credit disputes/credit "repair" normally works best on older accounts because it is more difficult for the information to be verified. Inquiries only stay on your report for two years, which really doesn't meet this critereon. Has anyone had success removing these?

- I stopped mine by opting out on the credit agency website. You opt out from inquiries and also credit card offers.
- I just stumbled across this this morning... http://www.creditinfocenter.com/repair/inqerase.shtml
- Go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp, which is where you can obtain all 3 of your reports for free. At each one, there will be instructions on how to dispute an item that you think should not be there.
- the reason things get removed is the company fails to show proof within 30 days and its more than likely that a company that has done a search on your credit (say a car dealer etc) will not take the time to dig up that proof and you can get them removed.. - The link SCH gives is ok but has a lot of bad info also. But you should look it over. Keep in mind that credit bureau's only report the facts as given to them. It is a FACT that someone did do an inquiry into your credit report, so it's going to be very difficult to get them to remove it. What you need to do is go after the creditor and make them PROVE the had a legitimate reason to pull your report. If they can't prove it, you can sue them for $1000. This is made very clear in the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the government takes a very serious approach to people gaining unauthorized access to private information. So send the creditor a letter and demand to know the reason they pulled your report, and be sure to let them know you understand your FCRA rights. The threat of having a lawsuit against them will prompt them to delete the inquiry real quick.
- Yes, I have through credit repair actually. Usually companies charge hundreds of dollars to simply pull your credit and send correctly worded dispute letters—this is the key…..people will tell you that you can do this yourself for free but the truth of the matter is that the credit bureaus will throw your letters away or simply reject them. There is an easy to use online kit that will deliver the results you want available for just $19.95 at the source website. A similar kit is being sold via infomercials and radio talk shows for seventy dollars more but they try to solicit you repeatedly for other services after the fact.
