- Keep on disputing. They have to verify the item with the creditor. Maybe they will give up on you.
- ah! this is a pain in the ass! here's what u have to do: call the company that the dispute is involving (i.e. if it's a late pmt on a credit card or something, call that company). make them report it to ALL THREE credit bureaus (trans union, equifax, and experian). Also have them send u a letter confirming that the issue has been resolved. YOU also need to send a copy of that letter along w/ your own cover letter explaining what u are disputing to ALL 3 bureaus. You can't call them -- they wont talk to u until u have a certain reference number, which will come by mail. Once u have that u can call and talk to someone. Once u do that you will recieve confirmation that the item being disputed is resolved w/ in 30 days in the mail along w/ your updated credit report. I know it's sounds aweful and it is. I had to do this when I was buying my house. But trust me, this is the ONLY way to get that negative factor off there for GOOD. I tried having just the credit card company resolve it for me first, and it came off my credit report, but sure enough a month or 2 later it was back on there. Good luck!
- creditors are excellent in keeping track of whatever can benefit them, but when there's a dispute going on in your credit report they take their time on fixing it. that's why you have to be persistent in calling them to report the dispute. call all three credit bureaus (experian, trans union, and exquifax). the contact numbers should be on the bottom of your credit report. also call the credit card/loan company that the dispute happened on and be persistent with them as well. it's really a hassle and may seem like a waste of your time, but it'll be all worth it. oh, and if they did fix it, it will take maybe a month or two to show on your credit report. sucks, huh?
