- don't waste your $ on notorizing a letter. dispute the error with the credit reporting agency, if the error isn't corrected, then record a statement to your report associated with the creditor
- You can. You can also challenge any credit errors on your credit report. The credit reporting companies, then must have the creditor who placed the report, investigate and confirm their report within a certain period of time. You can also contact any company that has placed an erroneous credit item on your report, yourself, to see why they did so. Usually the letters you are allowed to place in your credit report, are used to explain the circumstances surrounding a period of bad credit. IE: was in the hospital for 5 months after an accident, etc.
- I don't think i would bother with notary fees. I do respect the fact that you are trying to improve your credit. . Usually companies charge hundreds of dollars to simply pull your credit and send correctly worded dispute letters—this is the key…..people will tell you that you can do this yourself for free but the truth of the matter is that the credit bureaus will throw your letters away or simply reject them. There is an easy to use online kit that will deliver the results you want available for just $19.95 at the source website. A similar kit is being sold via infomercials and radio talk shows for seventy dollars more but they try to solicit you repeatedly for other services after the fact.
