  3. First of all, it's best to work with the original creditor. Make sure you make copies of all correspondence as well. Write to the original creditor with the account name, account number, date of transaction or late period, the amount in question, and your reason for disputing it. Also provide any documentation you can come up with to strengthen your argument. If you paid for a credit monitoring program, they usually have an automated system you can use on their website to dispute an account. First paragraph should indicate that your are writing to dispute information on your credit report.
