How can I dispute a credit card charge even if my credit card company rejects my dispute?
To make a long story short, I had booked my hotel reservation through American Express travel and paid in advance to Amex. Unfortunately, we couldn't sleep at all because the noise disturbances on our floor. We were so angry that we checked out at 3 a.m. When we left the police came to deal with the guests who were making the noise. The hotel manager apologized and told us that there will be no charge. So, 3 months later I am still trying to make Amex understand that it's Amex travel who should credit us and not the hotel because when we checked in the room was already paid for. As far as the hotel is concerned I never paid for the room because we check in and out with a zero balance. I keep getting a letter from them that they can't verify with the hotel and the hotel keeps telling me that they never charged me for the room. I have no idea what to do next because everytime I call Amex I have to explain the entire situation again to different agents. Please help!

- Stop speaking to different agents and demand to speak with the manager. Make sure you get the person's full name and position and direct phone line so that they can deal with that one person. The people in a senior position usually are a lot better at sorting out complicated problems than a junior clerk.
- I work for American Express and u would definitely want to speak with a supervisor and have all pertinent information available. such as hotel documents, etc. unfortunately, because this incident was over 60 days ago, the timeframe may have lapsed already. U always have the right to re-dispute the resolution that was reached with ur earlier dispute.
- Definitely keep a log of who you talk to and when. Usually when you know the names and titles and when you called it will scare Amex into fixing your problem. Right now it sounds like you have little proof of their promises, so keep a written log of all conversations.
- You are barking up against the wrong tree. Find out where the hotel chain's corporate offices are located and who is the CEO. Write him or her a letter explaining what happen and ask to have the charges to your AMEX card reversed.
- Call the hotel and tell them to fax you a letter that says they never charged you for the room and a statement that says zero balance on it and it includes those dates. Than get in contact with the Amex and file an appeal or another dispute. Only this time ask to speak to a manager and get their fax number and fax the statment form the hotel. Make sure you call back later to confirm receipt. But to do that you need to make sure you get the name and last name of that manager with their direct number or extension.
- American Express, or AMEX, is one of the most recognisable names in the financial world. What many customers who have MasterCard or Visa credit cards in their wallet are interested in, is what is the difference between these two companies and American Express. Well the difference is quite simple. MasterCard and Visa are both simply payment methods. They allow locations to accept payment using their system. They do not however, issue any credit cards of their own. For this they rely on their partnerships with thousands of banks worldwide who will issue credit cards, provide the credit necessary, and charge clients interest and give them rewards. None of your credit card bill goes to Visa or MasterCard. It all goes to the bank that provided the card. This bank also sets your interest rate, gives you rewards, offers you zero per cent balance transfers, the works. Visa and MasterCard make their money by charging the retailer a fee for using their payment system, and also sometimes by charging your bank for issuing the card. None of this effects you directly however. apply online for a best credit card at: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/American_Express.html
