- Credit repair companies make money off of you. They CANNOT repair your credit, and they will charge you for what you can do yourself - get a copy, dispute claims, close accounts that aren't valid anymore, et al.
- Yea, they cost $$$$$$$$., and accomplish little.
- No one can repair your credit except you. Debt management companies can help alleviate some of the interest you pay on credit cards. I would suggest going online to get your free credit report from all 3 credit bureaus, check it over carefully, and report and discrepancies. Other than that, pay off your credit cards because the higher the balance you keep on them, the lower your credit score. Don't be fooled by those that say they can repair your credit.
- If you live in the UK companies like that are pointless. They do the exact same service as the Consumer Credit Counseling Service the only difference is that one is free while the other costs you money which could be used to pay off your debts.
- Credit Repair companies do work. They work hard if you use the right ones. It's certainly true that you could do all of the work yourself, but highering a credit repair company to do the work for you is the same reason people hire maids... the work is time consuming and messy... it's cheaper to pay someone to do it for you and they'll probably do a better job. The more reputable companies will actually review your credit before they get to work on it and estimate if it's even worth pursuing. I've been in lending for 6 years now and specialize in helping people repair their credit so that I can get them qualified for better products. I'd be more than happy to look at your situation and see if I could give you a couple of pointers. You can email me casey.x.casperson@chase.com.
- Credit repair companies have horrible reputations. However, good ones do work. It's very unfortunate how many people have been burnt by bad ones. I work for a credit repair company. I raised my own score over 200 points and have raised hundreds of other peoples scores who come in looking for a mortgage with bad credit. You CAN do credit repair yourself. That is 100% true. But, you can also repair your car engine yourself...IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. If you want to do it yourself, just learn a lot about it before you jump into it. You could end up hurting your credit. If you're not interested in spending hours to learn the right way to do it, then hire a professional. Either way, repairing your credit is extremely important and the time to do it is NOW, not when you are ready to apply for a loan.
- I have a lot of solid information for you, I assist people in repairing their credit. It is true, you can do it yourself however, this is my specialty. Fees are based on your goal and your credit damage. Are you hoping to make a purchase in the next six months? Are you still creating debt? Have you filed bankruptcy? Are you being sued and/or garnished? For the cost of sending me an email, I will be happy to explain what is possible and my fees. I should mention, beware of promises made by my industry of miracles. While credit can be repaired, it takes time, effort, and diligence. It does NOT take hundreds or thousands of dollars in fees. Feel free to email me.
- I have been to "many" different credit repair sites on the web. Some were pretty good and some were pretty bad. I refuse to use a website<!--that requires a fee to get their credit repair info when there is great free sites on the web.. I'm listing the best site that I've ever been to. http://badcredits.awardspace.com/repaircredit.htm It is a "free" do it yourself credit repair site. I have learned so much by reading and asking questions on that site. And, I have seen "significant" improvement on my credit reports after learning-->my rights and using them.Don't pay for information that you can find for free.
- Some people have reported success with them, but when I question folks as to what constitutes success I tend to get only one discernible answer. The credit repair company made the debt collector calls stop. Heck, that's easy to do, and if you do it right and the debt collector is a moron you can make money at it. Just record calls from the debt collector, in compliance with any requirements under your state's laws, and if the debt collector violates the law take it to a consumer lawyer or sue the debt collector yourself. More than one person has reported working with a credit repair company, and the credit repair company made the situation worse. One person I talked to narrowly escaped a debt collector in court because they heeded my advice, stopped working with the credit repair company, and hired a lawyer.
- It depends upon what you mean by "work." (Sounds like a famous president, huh?) They certainly don't work the way they claim ("remove all negative information from your credit history;" "increase your credit scores instantly;" erase late pays, repossessions and foreclosures from your credit report;" etc.). They can only erase them if they are erroneously on you credit report in the first place. This is kinda', sorta' what you will read in their advertising literature: WE WILL QUICKLY REPAIR YOUR CREDIT AND ERASE ALL THE BAD STUFF In any event, you don't need to spend any money on them, because you can do on your own what they claim to be able to do for you. They charge fees. You don't need to pay any fees. Here is basically in a 3 step process what these companies do for you. 1. Contact the three credit bureaus (links provided below) and get your most up to date credit history. 2. Read the histories carefully for accuracy. (These companies, and the creditors who report information to them, can and do make mistakes.) 3. Challenge any inaccuracies. I will be honest I have only found one place that I found helpful before. They give you a free analysis with some pretty good info, and its all free! Try it out you wont regret it, just check it out below. http://tinyurl.com/32eq9w
