How long on average does it take to repair your credit score?

Public Comments

  1. Minimum of 90 days up to a year or more. Depends on you.
  2. It will take 7 years for adverse info to age itself off your record. You can start to repair it by exhibiting good credit behavior now but its a slow gradual process.
  3. If you have bad credit, it will take between 18-24 months of good payment history to rebuild your credit score. The best way is with credit cards, use them for everyday things, never exceed 30% of your credit limit in any given month and pay in full before the due date. I did this with 2 cards and raised my score over 150-points in 24-months.
  4. It depends on how much time and ambition you put into this! I made my score improve from 486 to 729 in a little over a year after a bankruptcy and a case of ID theft. It can be done, but I put a great deal of effort into this! Also, it depends on what you need to repair. Most credit reports contain errors and these should be challenged! My credit report was riddled with them! Look at my website. It's all about credit repair and the steps you should consider. I'm not an attorney and I'm not giving legal advice, just telling you as someone who went through this how it can be done and what you can do to protect yourself from the perils I fell into. I have an RSS feed too since I add a lot of info to this site and my next addition will be about free services to help you through it!
  5. 66 hours, 22 minutes, 11 seconds
  6. You do not directly repair the score. The score is influenced by everything, good and bad, on your credit report. The damage to your score from something bad stops when that bad thing is removed from your report, which takes: 10 years for bankruptcies Various amounts of time, from 5 years to forever, for unpaid tax liens, depending on state law 7 years for everything else bad, except bankruptcies and unpaid tax liens
