What range of credit score do you need to get qualified for a VA loan?

Public Comments

  1. You qualify for a VA loan (GI Bill) if you have completed 180 days active duty under honorable conditions. Your DD-214 is your proof. Your credit score will determine how much the VA will guarantee the loan for.
  2. There is no particular answer to your question. VA does not impose a minimum credit score on their loans, assuming you are a veteran. If not you can not get a VA loan. VA is like FHA they are looking into your pay history in the past few years. If you have a clean payment history for the last 12-24 months then you have a good chance. Your best bet is to apply with a bank or a broker and see what your options are. I disagree whith the person above where they state your score is what the VA will gurantee your loan for that is not correct. The VA will gurantee your loan for the same amount no matter what your credit score is.
