- After 6 years it should be gone. You cannot remove these entries yourself, and do not trust any website offering you this kind of service. It's impossible...
- Derogatory accounts show for 7-years from the date of first delinquency which works out to 7-years and 180-days. As long as the information is correct, there is no way to remove it. Now for the good news, 90% of your credit score is based on the last 24-months worth of activity so if your bad accounts are several years old they really should not be affecting your score that much. The best way to generate a good score is simply by paying your bills on time every month.
- try experian.com they will be able to give you your credit score ad help you sort out your credit
- What Spifiman said. Also, don't play the credit card game. If you play the game sooner or later you will get behind and start losing. Once you start losing at the credit card game its hard to get out of the game. High interest rates which they can raise for any reason. Outrageous late fees and over the limit fees. Not to mention indentity theft. pay as you go and live on less than you make and you will have money. No payments = cash in the bank. With cash in the bank. You will not have to rely on credit cards in an emergency. Going into debt with a credit card is the last thing you need in a emergency. Don't worship at the alter or the almighty I love debt score either. All it's good for is getting into debt. You have to borrow money and make payments on time to get a high score. You have to keep borrowing money and keep making payments on time to keep a high score.
- what you will need is a decent credit history from recent times (approx 9 months is minimum). you will only get this by paying loans / credit cards etc. ontime and by not applying for new ones (as lots of applications looks bad).
