Credit repair? United Credit Association?

Has anyone heard of United Credit Association? they're a credit repair agency. I want to know if those agencies are legal and if they really can repair your credit. My realtor recommended it to me because they had a meeting with some realtors in Houston, TX and they guaranteed to fix your credit in 6 months.

  1. They can't do anything u can't do on your own. They are legal, and legit, but keep in mind, they're in to make a profit. And they don't have any resources that you don't have access to on your own. Seek a credit counseling agency in your area instead, and make sure they are a NFP agency before doing business with them. (not for profit) good luck.
  2. Avoid credit repair agencies that charge a fee to improve your FICO score by removing negative, but accurate, information from your credit reports. No one can force credit reporting agencies or lenders to remove accurate information from a credit report. Credit repair companies often take your money without delivering what they promise, or provide only temporary improvements of your score, sometimes by removing accurate information that will reappear later. Here are some questions you should ask them What services do you offer? Will you help me develop a plan for avoiding problems in the future? What are your fees? What if I can’t afford to pay your fees? What qualifications do your counselors have? Are they accredited or certified by an outside organization? What training do they receive? What do you do to keep information about me (including my address, phone number, and financial information) confidential and secure? How are your employees paid? Are they paid more if I sign up for certain services, if I pay a fee, or if I make a contribution to your organization? Hope this is of help to you.
  3. I always find it funny to read the myths people print about credit repair companies. My favorite one is "Why pay someone to do something for you that you can do yourself?" This is the most absurd of all the questions I have ever read. If your car breaks down, you take it to a mechanic. You can do it yourself, true, but its wizer to trust a professional to do it for you. This can be said of tax preparation, legal litigation, plumbing, and virtually any other service provided in this country. Are we going to tell all of America that they should stop using these services simply because you can do the job yourself? No. A site I've used for info in the past ... http://debt.123thebest.info/credit_card.html All the best to you.
