1. www.freecreditreport.com I do not endorse this website, I've never tried it but the commercial is everywhere!
2. go to any www.credit place I used (www.annualcreditreport.experian.com) you are entitled to one free per year..
3. You can get your free credit report once a year from each of the three reporting agencies, I rotate them and get a free report every four months. The site is https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp If you go directly to the credit reporting agency web site, they want to charge for the report. Also when you ask for your free report, they want to sell you your credit score and other services. You don't need the credit score. It is of no use to you. The main purpose of looking at your credit report is to ensure that each agency has the correct information and does not report anything that is wrong. If you do find a mistake, you should contact the agency and ask them to correct it.
4. I beg to differ with Serge M. on one point. Your credit score IS important. I went to a bank to get a loan and the banker said that this product required a credit score of 680. Well if you checked your score (and admittedly sometimes the score the credit bureaus give to consumers may be different than the score they give to creditors),if you checked your score and it was, say 650 then you would not be eligible for that loan product which may be very very good. You would have to check your credit report for errors and if there is one or two then dispute them/it have this corrected and your score should go up.
5. www.annualcreditreport.com don't use freecreditreport.com (these are NOT the same)
6. You can get a copy of your report from each agency once per year. If you want your credit score you will have to pay for it, no matter where you get it from. annualcreditreport.com is the best website.
