Has anyone used a Credit Repair/Restoration Company?

I was referred to a Credit Restoration Company and they sounded pretty honest. However, I wanted to know if anyone else has had any experience with a Credit Repair Company or any advice on finding the best one. What kind of results did you get? Were they permanent?

  1. I wouln't try 'em if I were you. Cause you are the only one that can fix and maintain your credit score. The only thing that they can do is helps you (being the 3rd party) with your creditors which you can just do it yourself. Call them up (your creditors that is) and explain about your situation cause they would works thing out with you. Lower your interest for example etc. No such thing as permanent, as I already explained the reason, it is all about how you maintain your credit my friend! Good luck!
  2. Its nothing but headaches. My neighbor tried one and they did'nt like the service, just remember these folk are not trying to " restore" your Credit for " Free". You end up paying them and Paying the company you owe Money too. Best dealing with the people you owe on your own. This way you only feeding one mouth instead of 2.
  3. No one can "repair" a credit. At best, if they're a reputable company, they can do the paperwork that normally you would file. It's just that you have to keep on top of them, and when that's too difficult, you hire a lawyer (with the knowledge of what the options are, what papers needs to be filed and what the laws are). I signed on for free credit tips and they have great information that you can use, and if finally, you need to get a lawyer, they recommend the Lexington as a reputable source. Sign up and see if this fits your needs.
  4. Don't even think about it. These outfits are scams. Do not be fooled by how honest they sound, their "success stories", or how professionally designed their webite may be. Credit repair is a joke, a very expensive joke. There is nothing these bottom feeders do that you cannot do yourself, except that they will charge you hundreds. All they will do is challenge any negative information on your report. If the creditor does not respond within 30 days legally it can be removed. If you have negative information on your report and the creditor who reported it affirms it as valid within 30 days, that's it, game over, it stays. You could have done that yourself. Credit repair shoudl be illegal like payday advances. Do not consider this an option at all.
  5. I would strongly suggest you not do this. I know you say you don't have time, but you can get letter templates to use and it won't take that much time. I've bookmarked this site... http://debt.knowledged.info/credit_card.html Hope it all works out
  6. Good results; not necessarily permanent. For standard credit repair though, noone can beat the price of $125. Check out the free evaluation form at www.totaldebtsolutionsllc.com They have a partner which is a true non-profit and simply wants to help people. Good luck.
